Not quite sold on ABV-Test Run suggestions?

  1. So....been vaping for yeaaaars! BUT just started saving my ABV.
     
    I hear people having good luck with using it. even heard of some people smoking it and getting a head change! Based on what I've read, yogurt and peanut butter are solid go-tos also!
     
    Well...im not really sold that I'LL GET HIGH off my ABV. I have a few reasons....my tolerance is pretty high (considering a T-break real soon too) and i cook my herb until it is like boderline coffee ground color, no exaggeration. Ive always tried to cook as much as i could so i could "cash it out," so to speak...since i always read that if there is still green, you should keep cooking it. Im also super frugal, so light brown ABV makes me feel like I'm leaving money on the table! Pennies! lol
     
    Right now I got probably between 4-5 grams of ABV. I wanna do a little test run to see if its worth the trouble. ULTIMATELY, if it does work I would want to cook brownies with them...BUT i know i will need over an ounce of ABV to do that. So i was thinking of just mixing the abv with peanut butter or yogurt and just smash it down and hope for the best. 
     
    Is PB or yogurt the best way to use this small of an amount of ABV?

     
  2. If you cook it to a pretty dark brown, it is relatively useless imo. That's how I vape mine and never really got anything out of ABV. If you want two uses for your weed, then I'd say just try to stop at a very light brown And save the rest for edibles or green dragon.

    I use 4g of ABV to make a tray of 16 brownies, that's 0.25g per brownie. Whoever told you to use over an ounce is insane.
     
    The ABV effect is very different than the fresh green bud effect, because you have already vaped most of the THC. So what you are left with is other cannabinoids that give a mellow, relaxing, sedative, non-THC effect. I like to eat ABV edibles before bedtime, or if I have an upset stomach, or if I am feeling anxious. If I wanted to party with my friends and listen to Dark Side of the Moon, I would not eat ABV, I would eat edibles made with fresh green bud. :)
     
    ps if you are looking for a "test run" the easiest method is to simply put the ABV in your mouth and swallow it.

    im not really interested in the multi use, thats why I've always cooked it so long. Sometimes ill even relight a bowl i didn't empty hours before. 
     
    Can anyone else second this opinion about it being useless? Cuz i do cook it to a darker brown!
     
    I was reading people with high tolerances saying that they use 1g of abv per brownie, so I assumed that'd be the route for me.
     
    Thats good to know about the difference in high, so ill know what to look for.
     
    As far as your "test run" advice....its my understanding from reading that you can do that....but you will not get the full effect because you need to pair the ABV with a fat/oil like pb or yogurt to get the good stuff out. So is that right or wrong? If its wrong ill slam it down in a glass of water.

    I'm smoking some right now, and I personally can get similar effects to regular weed, but it's guaranteed to make me sleep when I come down. Does taste like shit tho

     Peanut butter is what I heard and used. And it worked for me. But it was a slight buzz, but a nice relaxation. Didn't feel high, but didn't feel tense and all angry like I am when I'm sober.

    I think I'm just gonna mix the 5 grams up with some peanut butter...prolly 2.5 at a time cuz i don't wanna die! (any rob delaney twitter fans in here? if so, you know you can and will OD off pot).
     
    i figure it has do be somewhat different since the chemicals ingested aren't likely the same that are being vaped off. Im just gonna do it, before i end up spilling my abv all over something!lol

     Yeah. I'm really not such a bad guy... I mean, sure I rant about all you Liberal dope smokers...But hanging out with you is better than hanging out with those lunatics I get paid to rile up. HOLY shit they are crazy...... lol. If you ever see me in Public come up and say hi, and thank me for all the hard work I've done bringing awareness to the fact that the dangers associated with Cannabis are still safer then those associated with FOX news. lol

  10. Just wanted to update in case anyone is in the same boat as me.
     
    I did the peanut butter method. Used about 6 grams of ABV, mixed with PB and olive oil. Baked it for about an hour cuz i had to use a decent amount of PB. Ate half of it, which was quite a bit of fuckin PB to eat on 1 piece of bread. I gooped that shit on there!
     
    Did not work AT ALL FOR ME. I was even on an empty stomach before hoping this would help it hit harder.
     
    Im not saving my abv. its done when i finish with it imo. With this said....my ABV is ALWAYS brown. even when its lighter brown....its a straight brown with no signs of green whatsoever! So thats why saving abv is pointless for me.
     
    GL to anyone else. Didn't taste bad at all, really....just overwhelmed cuz i loaded it up when i ate it lol

  12. My experience is that edibles don't work as well on an empty stomach. Eat something high in fat (avocado, nuts, peanut butter, etc) about 45 minutes before and try again.
    I would also recommend making cannaoil (or cannabutter) using some soy lecithin and then even freezing the mixture.
    All the little details come together to make an efficient product. Check out some of BK's stuff

    plus i went ahead and added some olive oil, since it said that was optional. So I hadn't eaten....but when I took the ABV, it was with a SHITLOAD of peanut buttler on toasted bread. Like a shitload of peanut butter....serious shitload, which was the only thing that made the experience semi unenjoyable. Was expecting it to taste bad or cardboard like at best....it tasted like peanut butter.
     
     
    Im not saving the abv anymore. I second what others have said about brown abv....semi-worthless at that point. I really do cook it up....and i hardly/never vape at low temps, always higher and cook it till no more vape is exhaled. I get good use out of the herb...just wanted to try, and now i know its not for me and my situation.
     
  14. The purpose of eating something high in fat beforehand has to do with your metabolism and whatnot.

    So you're saying it would've been best to eat some peanut butter before...i ate the peanut butter+olive oil+abv on bread?
     
    I thought that mixing the abv was meant to serve the purpose of what you are describing. Seems strange to eat regular peanut butter...and then follow it with the ABV peanut butter. I'm probably not understanding you tho

    Sorry man didn't mean to come off upset lol

    The purpose of eating something about an hour before is to start your metabolism. As I understand it, your body will work more efficiently at absorbing the cannabinoids. When you eat the edible on an empty stomach, your body has to first start your metabolism and then absorb it, making it less efficient.
    I'm pretty sure that's it anyway.

    Make another edible and this time try eating some regular high fat peanut butter (or make a PB&J!) a bit beforehand. See if it makes a difference. The worst that happens is that you don't feel any of the effects from the weed you would have thrown out anyway, and the best that happens is you get stoned!
