Stems growing together bad genetics?

Discussion in 'Sick Plants and Problems' started by Kush Monkey, Feb 2, 2015.

  1. Looked thru the other threads didn't see this yet. Got seeds from Bonza and growing them in Humboldt soilless 3 gallon air pots. Humidity around 55-65 and temp is 75 growing in a 4X4 tent for under fluorescent lights. Using fox farms trio. I started a white widow and was going fine then all of a sudden a set of leaves grew round vs pointed. Flushed the soil then started coming around. Then this morning this is what I found. Two stems grew together. I had to pull the center shoot out of the middle of the two stem? This will be the 4th seed out of 7 that has started off nice then had catastrophic failer. One had a seed hull not come off and leaves fell off once they pushed the seed hull off leaving just the stem. Had two bubba kush start then fall over once they had first set of leaves. Though that may have been room conditions. On a positive note the other 3 remaining plants r thriving. Have a 2 vanilla kush, 1 of the 3 bubba kush made it so not complete loss but out of 7 feminine $13 seeds 3 good ones and one handicapped white widow. Any ideas why the stem grew together and why the leaves grew round?

  3. Genetic mutation. See what happens. That's all I can say lol

  4. What im wondering is does Bonza sell bunk seeds or could it be the conditions of my room? This is my first time ordering seeds from a bank, I usually use clones or random bag seed.

The seed bank has nothing to do with bunk seeds... That's all in the hands of the seed company that produces them and IMO if a seed pops and grows it's not bunk. The general rule of thumb is to order 10 or more seeds of the same strain, this allows you to ween out the ones with mutations and unwanted characteristics. The fact of the matter is just because you buy a seed it doesn't guarantee the exact same genetics and/or characteristics of the mother/father plants. It's the luck of the draw man.

To answer your question no, your environment wouldn't have much affect on this type of mutation.

Here's a photo of a mutation (cannabis Chinensis) that I got on one of my Brian Berry Cough phenotypes.

I am letting her do what she wants. She is really cool looking all kinds of f*cked up. She makes a hard right then straight up and then another almost 90 degree bend the other way. She is now twice the size and is kinda spiraling around the container. So i turn her half way thru the day and she is all kinds of crooked. I FIM cut her day before yesterday which has really made her branch all kinds of goofy. Going to pinch and FIM cut the rest of her tomorrow evening and then give them a week to recover then switching to 12-12. Doubt ill get much off her but we will see. The other 3 are looking killer though. So in a week ill have 2 vanilla kush 1 bubba kush and 1 mutated white widow in flower!!!

  8. You have leaf clawing that indicates over fertilizing and 3 bladed leaves that indicate stress. The new growth looks like the roots aren't getting as much oxygen as they would like.

What is your light cycle? Has it had any dark cycles 11 hours or longer? The 3 bladed leaves almost look like it tried to go into flower and is now revegging.

Yeah its been on 18-6 since seedlings sprounted. I do that on all my grows and its complete darkness everything in the tent is taped off so no little red lights (hermed one plant a year ago) It was weird just grew together i had to physically pull the shoot out of the stem to set it back straight. Other than it being all kinds of goofy its growing nicely now. Doubt it was fertilizer at that point i had only fert. twice and it was hardly any in it been building it up since they had good roots. They are all in air pots with 50/50 humbolt non soil mix with rock wool cubes so getting plenty of air mixed in & only water every 3-5 days as the pots lighten up. All three other plants are healthy and bushy. She is only about 8-10 tall now which is double the size when i posted this. The other plants ar about 11/2 tall. One more week and flipping the switch to 12-12.

  10. Well its a week and a half into flower and all look great. Little bit of leaf curl but the widow lives. She is only 28" tall but is going nicely. Ended up where the stems grew together ended up branching into 3 stalks. So its short but bushy. She looks like she may just turn out ok after all.

The branch I'm holding onto is where the split originally was.

Here's more of a tops shot of the Widow and the rest of the ladies, back 2 vanilla kush and a bubbalicious front right. April can't get here fast enough!

  14. Finally was able to get a good pic of where the split was. Notice how thick the stem that goes off to the right. It's twice as thick as a normal branch? And the other pic is 2 weeks into 12/12. Looking killer! Shes bushy with a ton of shoots! So now I'm going to take 4 clones from her now that's she's into flower. Going to experiment and see how fucked she gets.

Sorry for long delay. The second top has 5 satellite tops and the main cola has 7. As of today day 43 of flowering, she's 31" tall and 23" wide. I got 3 healthy baby girls from her. I experimented with late flowering cloning waited 4 weeks into flower then took 3 cuttings. I did this on 2 other plants also. (vanilla kush) All of her cuttings rooted the quickest. Just not sure which girls to scrog with for my next round 3 VK's or 3 WW's. Rather not mix and match with that set-up. My OCD wouldn't allow it.

  18. WW is a perfect strain to scrog and is actually recommended by some seed banks (depending where you got them from) with the WW I have they produce rock hard nugs with a scrog of those dense ass nugs you are sure to get a heavy yield. I had one widow in a screen had to take it out half way through the grow to temporarily relocate, but she had gotten supper bushy from the time in the screen and I ended up with 9 oz's off of just her, and of it was in the screen would have only used about 2x2.5 feet of screen, so you could imagine what a full 4x4 could have done. That's my opinion either way happy growing and good luck with whatever decision you make.

Wow thats impressive! Most ive gotten off my plants doing it normal is 3 oz dried off kandy kush. The white widow is what I was thinking also. Only reason I was thinking about using the Vanilla kush is the clones r now twice as big and tall as the WW. I had 2 vanilla kush plants and one of them is could be on steroids. Took 3 clones off each kush plant the vk#2 is a stud had to bend them over and stake them down just to be the same height as the WW's? But the widows are looking more bushy.

  20. Nothin wrong with a mutant.
