Please suggest a vap for me

Discussion in 'Vaporizers' started by retired2014, Jan 31, 2015.

  1. My usage is just around home, for me only.  So I'm looking for suggestions for a personal vape.  Price is not an issue.  Right now I have a Pax Ploom, and it's working out fairly well.  But I'm new to vaping.   My basic usage pattern is a couple or three good draws and then sit it down for a while.

I tried a Volcano, and needless to say, that's just to much for my type of usage.   A couple of good draws, and I'm done for about a hour or so.

As far as usage goes, I pack the Pax chamber nearly to the top, and pack it down hard.  The herb is ground almost to a power.  I take about six to 10 good draws on it on the low setting, then stir, then about another five to 10 on medium setting and then it's about used up.  I've tried stirring it up a third time and vaping it on high, but I don't get much and when I empty the chamber it's charred and black.

So just wondering if you guys think the Pax is right for that kind of usage, or please suggest another vape.  Thanks everyone.  :)

I don't know that usage would dictate the type of vape used. Unless you're wanting more efficiency meaning conserving herb. In that case a quality desktop convection unit would be best one thats not fan forced like the volcano is and is complete convection heating. If you want the ultimate to do it all check out the sublimator.

If you're looking to get a couple good draws then set it down and come back to it later, get a manual temp vape. That way you heat it up take a hit set it down then come back to it later without it cooking your herbs. A couple examples are the lotus, daisy, hammer, vapor genie, mflb, firewood, flashvape, and firefly.

The volcano is a great home vaporizer. it gets you baked :)

but for portable vaporizers or wax vaporizers you should check of the z3 vape pen for dry herbs, or the z4 vape pen for wax and dry herbs.
they are cheap and easy to use.

you don't have to spend a fortune to get a vaporizer.

  5. Don't listen to this guy, 90% of vape pens WILL combust if you're using them for dry herbs. Don't waste your money on one.

it's true some vaporizer pens can combust sure.
    most don't.

the portable vaporizer industry is a fast growing one, and vaporizer pens far outsell larger home units.
there are hundreds of great vaporizer pens.

I would recommend portable vaporizers over a larger desktop unit any day.
wax vaporizer pens are the best in my opinion right now.

safer than smoking herbs or vaporizing herbs as well.
everyone has there own preference though.

I like the volcano as I said before , and the extreme q.

however in my opinion the best herb vaporizer right now is the quartz tank q2.
    it's really amazing.

dont take my word though do some research and watch some video reviews before you buy.
    good luck :)

  7. No you have it wrong, most pens DO combust. Not trying to sound like a dick but I don't want OP buying a 'fake' vaporizer.

you sound like a hateful person.

there is plenty of vaporizers that work great how many do you own?

and again. if you read what I said I recommended two desktop vaporizer units, so sorry yes you are kinda hating.

if you don't have several vaporizer pens from many brands then you are making uniformed decisions.
I have used almost every vaporizer on the market, it's true desktop units hit harder most the time, but there are many good vaporizer pens.

check the high times reviews , because they recommend many vaporizer pens for wax and herbs.

and again I recommended two vaporizer desktop units to the user who is asking for suggestions.

    it's a personal choice.

  9. please send any info any links where it says every vaporizer pen does not work.
that is simply uniformed and not true.

there are 30watt - 300watt portable vaporizer pens!

they said the the volcano is actually too strong for them and want a more mellow vaporizer.

you really cannot get 20-30 hits on any vaporizer, so any vaporizer is going to turn the herb to burnt ash after 30 hits.

you can get 3-10 hits off most vaporizers before the material is spent.
the pax isn't very large so it can't get 30 good hits.

the cloutank atomizers are nice for portable vapes,
you may want to try wax, so you don't have to smoke 30 hits if that's what you need.
a couple puffs of essential oils is better for you than smoking 30 hits on a pax :)

  10. I started out with a Puffit original about 6 months ago and it was Ok. The taste you read about in reviews is true for about the first 2 chambers full.

Anyway as I said it was Ok and pretty cool in a very discrete package. The first one lasted about a month. The heating element went out in it. The second one lasted about a week. I was pretty irritated with quality at this point and when I set up my RMA I asked if I could get credit and upgrade. They actually suggested that I let them send me a Puffit 2 so I did.
The Puffit 2 is amazing. Easy to clean, ready for dry herb and or concentrates as it is with out changing the setup.
My point is for around $100.00US you can get a solid unit backed by amazing customer service and warranty!

  11. ....or, you can buy a glass pipe and toke a pinch every day till perdition. ....

  12. I have a Silver Surfer and a MFLB. I like the hits I can get from my mflb but I have a sensitive throat and it makes me hack a lung up. I really love my Silver Surfer I can take a couple of hits and set the wand and whip in my case for when I am ready to take my next hit. I have also heard nothing but good things about the LSV from 7th floor.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone.  I'll check out the brands mentioned.

I've also been experimenting with the Ploom model two pods.  Clean out the little pods of their tobacco filler, put a few drops of the Pax lubricant (just some kind of veggie oil) in the pod, and then a little bit of herb in it, and you can use the Ploom model two.  It's kind of a hassle though, but it's alright for single sessions.  Cleaning the little pods are a bit of a pain, but nothing that q-tips and a little alcohol won't fix.

  14. Get an LSV, you won't use your pax after that. A log vape like an underdog or enano would be a huge upgrade as well. Don't buy a pen. Volcano's are overrated, and not efficient.

  15. What kind of crazy is going on in your thinkbox? Most vape pens do not vape, they combust. Seeing as I think you may be uninformed or stubborn to use substandard, Chinese knockoff crap, here's a challenge.

So please show us your abv, from a vape pen. If not, because it is black and crispy.

I work at a vaporizer store so I have used just about every vaporizer pen and desktop unit on the market.
there are many great vaporizer pens as well as larger desktop units.

to say only a electronic device with a plug can be used to vaporzer for herbs is silly.
it's like saying only computers with plugs are good.

the pax isnt a great vaporizer, it's a little pricey.
you should try using a wax vaporizer if you need 30-40 hits, that's gotta be tuff on your lungs

  17. They Smell like a shill to me  :smoke:

  18. Check out the Arizer Solo if portability is a desire but it is a little bulky so it doesn't fit in pockets very easily.

The Arizer Air just came out and is a slimmer version of the Solo and i have read many people enjoy it more than the Solo. Both are free of cables when charged.

The Underdog is a plug unit made of a wooden exterior with a heating element inside. It is very efficient but my only complaint with it is no temperature control built in. You can control temperature with some techniques though. I have owned the Silver Surfer Vaporizer also and it was a beast of a vape. But i got rid of it years ago.

Don't get a pen unless you want to use concentrates in it.

  19. Please show us your avb. I don't believe you, nor does the way you word it sound legit.

  20. you're claim is ignorant.

    all vaporizers dont work?
there are millions who would disagree
