Watercolor like tattoos/no borders?

Discussion in 'Tattoo, Piercings and Body Art' started by guesswhat, Jan 31, 2015.

  1. I like a lot of the tattoos I am seeing that are more vibrant and colorful, almost having watercolor like effects. They also tend not to have borders. The best example I can give of an artist (even though I have seen others do this style) is Sasha Unisex (add tattoo if necessary).

Anyway is there any negatives to worry about here? Will it look messy and fade, or do anything as time goes on? I'm pretty inexperienced with tattoos so forgive me, but a style like that could persuade me to finally get one.

  2. Like this? I'd think they would look great with a good artist.

  3. Yep that's what I was thinking! Of course it wouldn't be copying anything exactly, but I'm just wondering how something like that will hold up over time.

The main factors are the artist, your skin tone and if the area will get sunburned a lot. Sunburns can fade/blur tattoos over a long time. A poor artist wont put the ink in at the right depth which can cause fading or blurry of the tattoo over time. Also some colors hold up better over the years then others.  EDIT just read this http://www.xovain.com/how-to/how-to-keep-your-tattoo-bright

  5. Helpful, thank you. I would be getting it as a shoulder tattoo so it would most always be out of the sun, and I burn pretty easy so sunscreen is a regular thing for me.
