Grow tent setup? Need Help

  1. Hey there first off im not new to the site at all but i have not yet done my own grow....until soon....

My question is with the Secret Jardin DR60II (second dr60 model). I understand its only 2ft by 2ft and that its a small tent. Im worried that if i get a 4" fan that it wouldnt be able to regulate a room with a 250watt HPS bulb. I only plan on running 2 plants at a time in there so i can veg a little longer and train so that flowering doesnt become too much of a height issue. I do understand that i can get a cooltube but i want to know if bladez are using a 250W HPS without a cool tube. To be honest i dont mind saving and waiting longer for a cooltube but if it can be down without it i would rather go that way. Electricity and airconditioning in britain is not always the cheapest !!

    More Info
The tent itself is 20 sq feet (23.5inch width x 23.5inch length x 64inch height) and the fan i plan on getting is 4 inch pulling roughly 130cfm. This should allow the area of the room to be vented about 5 times an hour. Would this be enough too sufficiently cool a NON cooltube lighting system(250wHPS)

Sorry about the repeating of myself but i wont to make sure you understand where im coming from and my nervousness/eagerness to get this basic stuff correct before moving on to actually growing.

  2. Getting a bigger fan and using speed controllers to reduce them has always been the best bet for me. I think it's quieter too. 😇

I am so open minded you should only think like me..

  3. Here is a 1.5' x 2' x 4' box that I used a 250w HPS open hood with a 4" systemair fan. I could get the plants up to around 6" from the bulb without any problems

  4. That looks wicked with the hydroponics. I will be using soil until i do a few then experiment between full organic and hydro.

did you have any issues with the heat fluctuating mate .

Also thanks for the info it goes a long way !!

  5. I did think about this but the tent has 4" vent ports and then id have to get reducers and mess about with it. Due to it being my first grow i want to try maintaining simplicity but applying well researched information as i go along. I know when i get into something i can go overboard and really fuck shit up B-) Should have seen me with those little warhammer figures :rage:

I didn't have any heat problems at all in that one. Those systemair fans really pull a lot of air even through a filter, they really are top quality. The box was completely sealed other than the 2x 80mm holes each having an 80mm pc bringing air in Just to help the exhaust fan out a bit. It allowed a steady stream of air being sucked in at the bottom and out the top. Because the box was so narrow the air was constantly moving upwards in there so the heat didn't hang around long.

I had a couple of pc fans hanging on the reflector to keep the bulb cool and these made a big difference.

  7. isn't a 2 x 2 tent 4 square feet? Not 20

  8.
the canopy area is 4 square feet, the volume is 20 cubic feet (it's 5' high)

  9. More Info
The tent itself is 20 sq feet (23.5inch width x 23.5inch length x 64inch height)

hate to think how much light he would need if his tent was twenty foot high

  10. Sounds good man with the clips on to help keep it cool. Thanks for all the info guys !!!!!

  11. Id turn that into 3 compartments. A 10foot tall flowering compartment at the bottom, a 6foot vegetating compartment and a 4foot propagation compartment. Continuos grows on all 3 stages in one cupboard !!!!!! A venting system going straight up through the pre cut vent holes in the roof/bottom of the wood shelving. Cfl mh and hps running lights and costing a small chunk in cash !!!!

    We can only dream !!!!

  12.
It's not 20 foot high, it's 5 foot high. It's 20 cubic feet in volume
