Arguement against full legalization

  1. Now before this post turns into a blood bath, Let me explain my point. I am 26 , and within the next few months i will be a legal patient. (I am currently in Pa and it was just announced). My Kidney doctor, my pcp, and my nuerologist have all agreed that in such case that it becomes available, that they will support the decision due to my inability to take prescription pain killers for my kidney failure, and that it would help ease dialysis. I FULLY SUPPORT STATE LEGALIZATION. I also support 95 % of legalization. My problem however is with federal legalization. I cannot and will not EVER support it. California has been the stomping grounds for many gorilla growers and indoor grows for years upon years. When the lumber mills and the fishing industry collapsed, marijuana was there to support the local industry. It is our forefront in the fight for pot. Day after day the state allows us to open shops and day after day the feds terrorize the owners. They arent prosecuted (for the most part) simply robbed and left with nothing. This is horrible. Unfortunately we have completely over looked the fact that the federal governement has attempted to synthesis pot SEVERAL times since the 60's and 70's. Their plan was to federally approve a "safer" alternative.. Since in their eyes smoking cigarretes is bad then pot must obviously be bad as well .. Had that gone through. We would NOT have the option to legalize it medically or criminally, the same way we cant grow poppy to make percocet. In speculation of what today would be like had the FDA passed it, I saw the issue with it. If it is federally legalized then the federal governement owns it, They control it, The contorl the rights grow it (or synthesize it), They control who can distribute it, They tax it, and then they develope on it. This leads to less cannabis and more pill, more side efects, less medicine and more headache. Imagine hearing Zolofts side effects before swallowing 90 acetominephen, and 10% cannabis. The governement have never .. and i do mean NEVER..  No drug in the world can be taken without some form of side effects. Marijuana is one of a kind in this world . Its side effects are 99.9% positive. It is able to be taken in a healthy manner for all patients. Imagine it sold in a compact white pill that is 90% side effect and 10% lies while the government rakes in billions of dollars in tax revenue. Organic growers would disappear, because prosecution would be ridiculous. 10 year manditory minimums for conspiracy to manufacture and distribute for every plant. Kids would be snorting them and we would be repeating the Oxycotin epidemic all over again. Tobacco companies would buy in, selling over ferilized, fake organic canna-boro's and Mari-port branded sticks to every store with the front money to open an account. You would get a product so terribly bad for you that you wouldnt enjoy smoking it anyways. The illegal market it for it would THRIVE. Because the federal governement wont support selling a quality product for reasonable prices. They will raise taxes on the corporations that own the market forcing them out of our country the same way they do with every corporation we get. We in turn will lose jobs. They WILL ruin this market when they get their hands on it . Every local business (aka every dispensary known in america) will crumble and close. Prices on cannabis related items will skyrocket. I cant see any positive coming from Federal legalization other than the exception of these people getting robbed by the DEA having the ability to sue. So my question to you is. What positive do you think will come out of it being federally decriminalized. Because every way i play it out it ends up the same. I just keep picturing what happned to Tobacco, Food, Cars, etc these are all things that americans owned that the federal governement took control of and are now WAY more harmful than they were back then. IDK, I dont really feel like argueing about this but i cant sit here and wonder over and over without hearing someone elses opinion. .Post away

  2. regardless of cannabis the main problem is greedy people are getting filthy rich off of the sick and dying while doing everything they can to turn healthy people into the sick and dying so that they can get more rich off of them.  That type of consciousness is on par with cancer and eliminating diseases that eat you from the inside out without you even knowing it. Just having people with that consciousness on our planet who reaps rewards of disease as their bank account grows and more people die is a reason we suffer those diseases IMO. another one down another dollar in the bank. until every last person is willing to help his fellow man and keep him in health ( take the monetary reward from the disease) we will be in constant disease secretly desiring unhealthy people to make you rich with lots of material wealth and zero heart wealth

  3. If the government over-regulates then the black market will thrive.

Too many people know how to grow their own.

  4. Messiah has a good point and I think most of the people that use cannabis for recreational or medical purposes already would be aware to avoid using a synthesized version. It does worry me though that the government could easily sway the non cannabis users or the anti pot parties that a synthetic pill version would be the way to go.

Its similar to companies like marborlo or camel having rights to "marijuana cigarettes" if it was federally legalized but most of us would know to avoid those given the history of what they put in their tobacco products (similar to pharma drugs.) Its simple to grow and it can be cultivated nearly anywhere in the world (at least indoors) so the black market would likely remain as strong as it stands now.

However I do not think the reasons you have mentioned are even close to being good enough or outweigh the idea of marijuana being legal. But it is important to consider possible things of concern or outcomes (like you mentioned) if there was a major change in law(s)

  5. 2 things that invalidate the argument for not having Federal Legalization:
    1) If you will not be arrested and have a criminal record for cannabis, legalization is the way to go hands down. This is the first and main reason cannabis needs to be federally legal, noone should be going to prison for this fucking plant.
    2) If it is federally legal, you can grow your own cannabis so you can smoke exactly what you want and not fucking worry about what corporations are trying to sell you.

It just drives me crazy when people are against full legalization because they think Monsanto is going to come in and make all weed into some genetically modified bullshit, when you could just grow your own and be happy with what you are creating. The Federal government will not automatically have the right to grow all marijuana, it is ridiculous. Will they grow cannabis? Absolutely. Will many people buy government cannabis because it will be convenient and they don't have to worry about growing it themselves? Definitely.

But those that give a fuck, will grow their own, not be criminals, and live a far happier life. You can currently make your own alcohol if you would like, grow your own tobacco if you have the knowledge and ability, and you will be able to grow your own cannabis, so please stop arguing for non-legalization because it just takes 3 steps back in the cannabis legalization movement.

  6. Black market thriving COMPLETELY defeats the purpose of state regulation tho.. and we end up with the OC epidemic again

  7. legalization isnt the issue.. the issuire is FEDERAL legalization .. FEDERALLY it allows it to be taxed. IN THE USA ALL DRUGS MUST BE REGISTERED AND PASSED BYT HE FDA ... FEDERAL ... ORGANIZATION.. not state ... FEDERAL regulations... FEDERAL control over ability to be manufactured sold stored and consummed. Im sorry maybe i didnt say FEDERALLY LEGALIZED... that means you will pay to go to their schools to be able to cultivate it. pay their licensing, pay their taxes, pay their cultivation licensing, pay their salaary with your marijuana. The Insurance companies determine the amoutn they cover.. which will be none for any preexisting conditions. You will not grow cannabis legally without following their steps.. and if you disagree.. do me a favor and make me some adderall right now. ritalin, alocohol, aspirin, oh thats right its 100% illegal to make those without their consent.. you can legally grow tombacco in the us right now without federal approval.. they are going to recreate tobacco all over again ... disagree all you want .. but  other than these shop owners making it thru the year with out federally mandated robbery .. nobody can name a positive thing the federal legalization of marijuana can do ...  can you tell me they will make it safer? can you tell me they will make it cheaper? can you say they wil make it stornger?... my point is that the feds will take it and ruin it .. people will grow it illegally it will be similar to prohibition except they wont tax it more.. they will make harsher penalties and more guidelines for people growing anything organic..same way i have to show id to get anythign with psuedo in it... get ready .. its not a matter of if.. its a matter of when...

  8. since nobody read the entire way thru .. ill repeat .. "So my question to you is. What positive do you think will come out of it being federally decriminalized"
    AND AGAIN ...
"So my question to you is. What positive do you think will come out of it being federally decriminalized"
I express my argument .. my opinion.. my lack of interest to argue.. i asked a question .. none of you were able to answer.
THUS your responses are off topic and irrelevant .. with the exception of the one cat who simply responded with i agree and disagree ...
Either way .. I asked for your opinion as to what the benefits o FEDEALLY LEGALIZING WEED WAS... not recreational smoking , not you trying to pick apart my opinion... simpel question .. I even started with LET ME EXPLAIN ... ENDED WITH "SO MY QUESTION TO YOU IS"
if you cant give me none then dont respond .. simple excuse yourself from the conversation

  9. Federally it should be taxed. Nothing is free, and those roads ain't gonna take care of themselves. Besides, I just quit smoking tobacco. And I'm not alone. Taxes are going to go up.... There needs to be something to fill that void where revenue will be lost or you will be paying so much in taxes that you won't be able to afford weed or internet, so you won't even be able to come on here and tell us how bad that Uncle Scrog is.

First and foremost, we're the ones trying to legalize it. Both federal and state. the fact is everyone will benefit from it. We are the one's playing their game. If the feds wanted to legalize weed, they would.

Yes you will be paying taxes, but you're already being taxed up the ass. You can't expect the feds to not get their piece of the pie when it comes to money, but at least legit owners won't have to worry about being randomly raided and robbed.  It will create more jobs and provide people in the industry with an opportunity to make an honest living under federal standards.

Meanwhile, we're still pushing for state level.

  11. This is some of the most retarded shit I have read lately. Federal legalization for recreational use will mean it will be treated similar to beer and no longer considered a controlled substance. Can you not brew your own beer without the FDA? Why are you comparing it to fucking percocet or adderal, which are both controlled substances?
