First Job.

Discussion in 'Apprentice Marijuana Consumption' started by NewSmoke15, Jan 26, 2015.

  1. I'm going to get my first job after graduation in a few months. What job/ jobs do you guys have that don't drug test?

  2. Public maintenence I make $10 am hour and I once found weed at work and my boss just smiled and said cool. It's pretty hard to find a lax job bro try to get an outdoors job

  3. Get a job for Amazon.  They only do the swab test (which only detects up to a few days tops), and they only randomly test the low-level employees.  Plus many of them claim to have beaten it (and they do still work there) by using the hand sanitizer machine that is on almost every wall and swishing some of it around in their mouth before taking the test.

  4. By no means would I ever put hand sanitizer in my mouth. I took a mouth swab test for my job, smoked the night before and passed. Drink a ton of Coke/Pepsi and coffee, brush your teeth a few times, use two different brands of mouthwash multiple times the day of your test. Worked for me at least.

  5.
It doesn't sound pleasant, but if I were to be popped with a random drug test and wasn't prepared, I'd do it to avoid losing my job.  I'd probably be pretty pissed if I did it and I still failed.  They don't test me, so I don't have to worry about it.  The point was that the drug testing policy is pretty relaxed.

  6. ah I mean at least its not everclear right?

  7. It was my understanding that OP was talking about pre-employment tests. I think we can all say FUCK DRUG TESTS though, at least for marijuana.

  8. Small or old-school companies don't usually test, but old-school bosses are psycho and scream about everything. Restaurants don't test. Sales jobs usually don't. I don't believe music stores do. In fact, I think you are supposed to smoke at these jobs.I stop smoking when I start looking for jobs though, gives me a lot more options, then I resume my evil ways. Never been tested other than pre-employment yet!

  9. OP, some advice that was given to me once, and in my experience has proven true: Local, smaller scale businesses can't (or don't want to) pay for drug testing across all their employees. If you want a sure fire job that won't drug test id look for smaller, non-chain type places. Or, as others have said, if you get a job that's a swab test they're incredibly easy to pass.

I'm not sure what they meant, they weren't that specific.  But as I was saying, only the low level employees get randomly tested there, and even they've supposedly found a way around it.  This guy is presumably about to have a degree, so he would be eligible for a higher tier job there and only subject to a pre-employment mouth swab.

True.  I don't think Amazon really gives a shit unless you're high at work on the warehouse floor, hence half-assing it with the mouth swabs.  They sell enough drug-related stuff that they shouldn't care.  I don't see why anybody cares to be honest.  No more than they'd care about alcohol at least, common sense stuff like don't show up to work that way.  But I used to work at a place where we had a guy who would show up to work drunk all the time, the boss would know and get mad, but didn't fire the guy until the 4th time it happened and he really fucked something up.  But this same company fired at least 2 people that I can remember just for failing one drug test for weed.

  11. My first real job (other than helping out my dad), was papa Johns pizza. Really chill job, and delivering to mansions wasn't bad.

  12.
I worked there in college.  I miss the pizza delivery days, best job ever.  Driving around listening to tunes and eating free pizza.

  13. I worked at a fish processing plant with a bunch of illegal immigrants from China

I was underage and got paid under the table. Hours were insane, sometimes 16 hour days with only a 15 minute non paid break with below minimum wage.

Duties were operating a forklift, dumping fish from containers were we would gut and remove fins using air cutters. Etc etc etc then air sealed and froze them. Sometimes we would put them into boxes and they would get shipped somewhere else.

Damn smelly shitty job, I hated getting scales in my eyeballs

  14. I'm sure the OP asked about drug testing...not just your first job. I don't care though cos your post has me in stitches!

  15. Haha you are right. I was quick to jump the gun to tell about my first job!

I've never been drug tested at any job, but maybe it's because I live in Canada

  16. try the Dallas Cowboys Pro Shop.   I worked there in 1999.  No DT.

  17. Unless it's with your car right

  18.
Somewhat.  I wouldn't deliver pizzas in a new car, or a car I planned to keep around.  But the old pile I had back then didn't mind the extra miles.  And the pizza smell didn't matter because it smelled like weed/cigarettes anyway.

  19. yea I hear its good money if you have a piece of shit car with decent gas milage

  20.
It was good money for the time (being young), and we did have a few older guys with families who worked there part-time to supplement their income.  Also, this was back in the 90's when gas was cheap (well, it's cheap again for right now), but it did get pretty good mileage.  I don't know about now, but back then you were compensated for your gas.  I think it was .75 for each delivery, which was way more than you'd actually use.
