Actively Aerated Fecal Tea (hit-cycling).

Discussion in 'Growing Organic Marijuana' started by cgMonge, Jan 26, 2015.

  1. This morning, as I finished a joint and a cup coffee next to my two rooftop composters, my colon felt caffeine kick in. That joint must have been kicking in too cause I had a crazy idea.

I hate it when I can't finish my coffee without having to come down from the roof to take a shit. Huh, why don't I have a rooftop toilet like that janitor from scrubs? No, even worse, why don't I have a rooftop toilet composter?
\nWell, I think I might try it out.

After some reading, I couldn't find any information on humanure compost tea. Most of the information on humanure comes down to some simple facts:
    • Humanure contains anaerobic microbes.
    • Humanure is a convenient medium for the growth of anaerobic pathogens.
    • Humanure contains aerobic microbes good for plant soil.
    • Humanure is a great source of nutrients for plants.
Typically, humanure is piled up between layers of sawdust or moss until microbes have finished breaking our waste into plant food. After a year or so, which ensures that the anaerobic pathogens that thrived in the poop have died, humanure is used as regular compost.

Exactly what could make fresh humanure unsafe to use for compost tea? No idea.

After 2-3 hours of active aeration in a compost tea brewer, a humanure solution (a.k.a. toilet water after taking a dump) could be safely used as regular compost tea. This would provide plants a balanced income of nutrients along with their daily watering (and my daily dump).

Opinions on this? Will post the blueprints later today and start building tomorrow.

Lmao I would definitely compost it first before bubbling my stanky poo in water for an extended amount of time ;)

I see major implications for pathogenic contamination.

Applying humanure compost on top of outdoor garden beds is one thing, but using it to make compost tea is altogether something else.

A lot of folks get the whole aerobic/anaerobic thing twisted sometimes, with good reason...

Many forms of pathogenic microbes are typically classified as "anaerobic", so most of us automatically assume that if exposed to aerobic conditions, they will not survive.  This is not the case.  Many pathogenic anaerobes are actually facultative, meaning that they can and do survive in aerobic conditions, but function more efficiently in oxygen poor environments.  Combine viable pathogens from "finished humanure compost" with a high carbohydrate food source such as molasses that allows them to multiply easily, and you've just made an aerated compost tea full of pathogenic anaerobic microbes.  The strains of E. coli that typically contaminate agricultural crops are a perfect example...

I could probably be convinced to use properly composted humanure on outdoor vegetable gardens, but I would NEVER use it to make compost teas.

  4. I once used chicken manure in one of my plants (bad idea I know) but it smelts so bad I couldn't keep it indoors so I put it outdoors on the lawn cause it was summer, I went out a few hours later to see two bastard slugs munching on it. So I decapitated them.

So, lets sum up here. You were inspired by a combination of your innate laziness and cannabis and caffeine induced fuzzy thinking to even contemplate shitting on your own organically grown crop....and still havent decided if it was an all round bad idea yet...is that where we are? I give you the logic of Dr. Johnson and say of your idea and it's relationship to a dog walking on his hind legs " it is not done well and you are surprised it is done at all". Just dont do it son. Regardless of how it turns out yours would always and thereafter be referred to as " shitweed".

@waktoo how does E. coli contaminate crops? It's my understanding that, if anything, the bacteria would only be on the surface of the fruit/veg etc IF it actually touches the manure. So it can be washed off. I would think that the same risk comes from using any animal manure-based compost in compost tea. Especially if the animal was taking antibiotics.

  7.

Wouldn't it just be easier to source some horse, cow, rabbit and/or chicken shit? Composted of course. :confused_2:

  8. No, it also is contaminated from shit-in water that gets on the plants.

Ever notice it's mostly Bag-O-Salad stuff that people get sick from? Farm workers shit in the irrigation canals ->irrigates greens -> bags to the grocery store.

    OP

Really considering bubbling shit next to morning coffee? MMmmmmm Good to the last drop!

    Wet

  9.
    Even fresh.

My wife and I both like the smell of horse shit.... After coffee of course.

    Wet

  10. it gets inside the plant material itself and can then get you sick that way?

think it's just on the surface. I'm sure the collards and other greens we eat are contaminated, but washing and 3-4 hours of cooking= we've never gotten sick.

    Fresh+uncooked ..................

    Wet

How come it's not that often in head lettuce???? Seems to always be leafy stuff in bags. ????????

  12. I did consider anaerobic bacteria would survive in the tea, but I don't expect any anaerobic pathogens making it far since I won't be handling said tea without proper care. Nor will I ever be consuming fresh buds or plant material.

On a side note, I like the idea of using humanure since it's the only vegan manure available. My girlfriend's vegan so yeah. She's gonna enjoy my shit-diesel.

Nice troll job. Any person with a girlfriend or wife would never consider aerating human shit.

    It's just not believable.

Sadly, this is more than likely a hydro grower trolling us. Which makes them so much easier to dislikr. You do your own. Quit trying to make fun of ours.

    Let me translate:

This morning, while trying to understand how come I am neither a grower or a shower, I realized that some men have larger balls and some have larger dicks. I wondered to myself, why can't I have both larger balls AND a larger dick! So I hunted around local dollar stores and came up with an idea! Why not combine a double shot energy shot and 2 horny goat weed pills! Guaranteed to make me finally have an erections as well as fill my balls with man juice and give me that 'bulge' I have always wished for. So I set out to obtain this elusive combination of organic man-ness. I visited 19 stores and came up with what I think is the perfect cocktail. Heh Heh heh, I said cock! You guys think i might score with this Internet porn? I do...

  15. I came to hear some turd talk and instead read about another mans cock...lmfao wrong in so so many ways...

  16. It is dangerous to incorporate ANY manure from carnivorous animals into a garden. Too many pathogens. Stick with vegetarian manure.
