Scientists discover that atheistsmight not exist, and that’s not ajoke

  1. Got through the first paragraph and found about 5 things stated as fact that was complete bull shit... so...

  2. It's because the idea of God itself is an abstraction. Our label for what is fundamentally at the basis of our reality. Iv'e often heard metaphysics being slandered and called useless. Yet it is so foolish a notion to ignore it. What is metaphysical is fundamental and inescapable.

  3. A "science" article without any actual reference to a scientific process or any scientific references.. no need to bit on a hook without any bait.

  4. So your spiritual and religious affiliations determine your existence?

    So like babies don't exist?

    o_O dude whaa

  5. I've noticed that lately the word science has been tossed around like candy on Halloween. It is sad really, but I guess that is just the world we live in where words that once meant something are reduced to meaningless click-bait for internet articles.

  6. First off the author, Nury Vittachi, is not completely objective. His mother is Buddhist, father Muslim and wife Christian. He doesn't mention his own beliefs, and I think I know why. And he's not a scientist, he just writes about science. Also he works in a "creativity research lab". Whatever that is.

Doesn't the need to believe in something just prove that all religions are false in themselves because they were created by psychological necessity?

The article claims that all atheists have some superstitious beliefs. Well I don't. I don't believe in karma, conscious universe, luck, after life etc. I don't so much want to deny anything as much as I choose not to believe in what can't be proven or what is illogical.

Also what's up with the author calling Dawkins a "militant atheist", seems a bit aggressive. Or that it claims "it's easier to be an atheist". I'd say it's a lot easier believing everything can be answered through God rather than through science.

Sure, that's not because religious people tend to be uneducated and uneducated people breed like rabbits.

Who exactly is he referring to??

Living in northern Europe where majority of people are agnostica/atheist I have to disagree. Most people in prison are theists, studies have shown.

A metaphorical angel that conveniently forgives all their sins. You say angel, I say ego.

Meanwhile history say it's very likely. Even in the middle east (where I hail from) the more educated people tend to be less religious, and there are more in-closet atheist from the M. East than you could imagine.

"It was, of course, a lie what you read about my religious convictions, a lie which is being systematically repeated. I do not believe in a personal God and I have never denied this but have expressed it clearly. If something is in me which can be called religious then it is the unbounded admiration for the structure of the world so far as our science can reveal it" - Einstein 1954

Darwin is famous for being a scientist. People just connect him with atheism because evolution doesn't coincide with Abrahamic religions. Most scientists distance themselves from atheism.

I could go on but hey, read the article for yourself. I'm not against different opinions, I encourage them. But this guy is laughable at best. Jesus Christ I say ironically. He's taking patches of ambiguity, quotes and studies and slapping them together to attack the atheists. Atheism today is more about not believing in God and organized religion that disbelieving in all superstitions. These irrational beliefs are undeniably comforting. And that's what we seek as human comfort.
