Domeless Quartz Nail, Vaping really quickly

Discussion in 'Concentrate Tools' started by lessthanjeezy, Jan 25, 2015.

  1. Hey everyone,

Newish to concentrates, got my first domeless quartz nail and the first few dabs went fine after seasoning, but after only 6 or so dabs, there is a small rim of black around the inside of the domeless, and after only 5 seconds of heating it with the torch it starts to vape up a lot, and if I keep torching for a few more seconds combusts....Does anyone know whats going on/how I can fix it?

The same wax was hitting just fine on my Titanium Nail

  2. It takes longer to heat quartz then Ti more then dble the time. Im guessing your not getting the nail hot enough or you don't have a carb cap for it. The last of your dab is not getting vaporized so it combusted upon heating the nail for your next dab.

  3. Hey thanks for the info...Yeah don't have a carb cap yet for it, and that seems to be what is happening... Just gotta get used to the new material, At one point I saw red flecks in the side of the nail as I heated it, but didn't think quartz got red hot really, is that normal?

  4. It's not the quartz that's getting read hot it's the leftover material that is turning red

  5. Thanks! Didn't see any on the sides of the nail, but there was probably a bit on there

  6. It'll spread really thin when it's just warm and then puff up when more heat hits it and it combusts. Just means you got a nice tasty low-temp dab that left a little bit of residual behind.  :yummy:

  7. Thanks for the help anyone, I think I should be alright now next time I am at the girlfriends we will get some better dabbing in off the quartz...

I have a new HE Titanium nail coming in the mail today too for my rig at home, so excited to get that seasoned and start dabbing off that
