Growing in fox far ocean spray and lightly feeding grow big fox farm nutes. She's looking beautiful no discoloration anywhere or anything wrong I can see. I'm growing with CFls but I have more then enough fixtures an lumens to keep her happy. Right now I have my lights further away as I am trying to get her to stretch a little I want to get as big as possible before flowering.(I have plenty of room) wanted some advice from some of you experienced grower on whether you would top it or fim it. What would benefit my growing situation an the plants itself the most. Thanks in advance -Herbage
Keeping the lights closer will create tighter nodes. Keeping them farther away will cause her to stretch. You could have 10 nodes on a 2 ft plant or 10 nodes on a 5 foot plant. Taller isn't always better. But that's just my opinion
yeah but it looks like it's getting bushy to the point the light isn't piercing through to the lower parts
So? They still have some bend to them lol Just grab a pipe cleaner or something, pull her to one side and tie it down. Personally a fan of topping and LST
I've got plants twice that size and I still bend the tops down and lst them. As long as u don't break the stem in half they will repair themselves lol
I say LST as well - opens up the plant for the lights. Do it a few hours after you do a good watering and tweak her over more and more in increments - it's easy and the plants seem to like the attention. Pull towards the side then tie off and guide her around the perimeter of your 5 gal. The lower nodes will get the light and climb towards the lights and you'll be amazed how the lower branches put on bulk and speed upwards. This will bush out the plant and as you tie and train her she'll get a "forest" of flower sites all getting nice, even light - a good thing with cfl's - plus popcorn down below if you want it with some strategic leave tucking and a minor tweak to the LST here and there. If you are set on topping or fimming, I liked fimming because while you're convincing her she needs to put future flower sites into overdrive because of your "attack," you're not losing the center flower site in the process, which is what happens when you top. I topped my first cfl grow for a scrog, fimmed by 2nd cfl for another scrog, and the next two I didn't even bother with a fim, top, or even a scrog. Just tied her down carefully , trained her into a bunch of flower sites looking up at the lights, went into flower and they all grew evenly up at the lights - worked out great.
Good shit guys I actually think I'm gonna skip on topping or fimming with this one an just gonna focus on lst. Thanks for all the info. Gonna do some research but any of you know some good guide to get started.
It's never too late to lst. It would just take a couple days to get it where you want it Sent from my iPhone using Grasscity Forum
trial and error lol. I honestly never read anything on lst or training plants. I just bent the tops of my plants at a 90 degree angle and then when the start growing up again I bend them a different way. It allows all the branches underneath to catch up on height to the top and gives you a more even canopy I have broken shit to where I needed tape to fix it but I think everyone's done that before. When you realize how much abuse they can take you'll be suprised lol If you do just start bending shit just start off slow. You'll be able to tell if and when it's gonna snap
awesome just did the first tie down after watering this morning. I'll be sure to take small increments and post an update picture in a week or two. Thanks man
This! If you pinch it you'll weaken the stem and then you can bend it over. No need to tie it down. She will start to grow back up towards the light and u can do it again
this is actually my first grow after having lost my heat in my house for a night the other 4 died this is the only one that lived it was 42 degrees when I woke up one morning. I just don't think I have enough confidence to do so. Really don't wanna fuck up another grow
What kinda light you using? I have a 1k and I use it to heat my whole apartment. If the power goes out i hook up a generator to my light and I can let my plants live and have heat haha
