I'm looking into an area 51 RW-150 LED. anyone have experience with them? i know the mars are cheaper but i like how the area 51 uses premium LEDs and i like the color temperature. How do you think it will do in a 2x2 grow? could i get the smaller one thats half the wattage (RW-75)?
    thanks

I would recommend looking into the SolarSPEC-100 by Amare Technologies for your 2x2 space. You could even use the 150 and really set things off but the 100 would be just fine!

Take a look at these journals both are using either the SS-100 or SS-150

This member is using their SS-260 & SS-100 models:

This member is running two SS-150's in a custom built 2x2.5 cabinet:

  3. some advice if you are willing: ask area 51 why they use 630 nm leds instead of 660. first spend 5 minutes to understand chlorophyll A and B. then listen to the answer and try not to laugh. ask them about the Emerson effect and if it applies to the plant you are trying LOL :)

I have tested a lot of different lights using a lot of different spectrums from my experience and research using all white LEDs just seems lazy or greedy I cant figure which. sorry just the way i see it.

give advanced a shot I cant find a light that beats them so far.

  4. I too have tried a few different brands and I would have to say so far I really like the Advanced LED XTE's I am running... they are built well, have dimming knobs to control intensity and spectrum and are extremely bright. Feel free to swing by my journal to see them in action.

  5. advanced $ per watt is so much though compared to area 51 or the onyx bloom. they all use CREE chips. i think ive settled on the onyx bloom. its 250w for $400 with cree XM-L2 10w chips for about $1.6 per watt. the lowest at advanced is the diamond series at about $2.75 per watt and you are getting bridgelux chips not CREE.

  6. Brada, are you implying that A51 has uninformed folks tending their customer service phone lines? That drives me insane. I'd rather shovel snow.

Advanced LEDs uses Cree, Bridgelux and Osram in their lamps which are all three great companies in the LED industry
