Eating fat on steak?

Discussion in 'Fitness, Health & Nutrition' started by guesswhat, Jan 19, 2015.

  1. I am trying to get more fat into my diet from various sources. Certain unsalted nuts, EVOO, whole milk, etc. But when it comes to eating my steaks I have always had trouble stomaching the fat, as in I can't stand the texture of chewing it.

Any ideas on how to get around it, or just man up and chomp down?

  2. with all the other fats you mentioned, is it even truly worth it? im in a similar boat as i cant stand that texture either.

  3. I'm not too sure, I just know my doctor told me to go on a higher protein and fat diet and try keeping my carbs lower. Not cutting them out obviously, because I am a big believer in all three macros but they said it'd be better for my really low blood sugar. I wish I could afford a nutritionist just for a few sessions hah.

  4. What about a ribeye steak?  I barely notice the fat as it is so damn soft..just melts in your mouth.

  5. I'll give that a try next week when I buy more. I got top loin sirloin or something this time? It was $25 for four 3/4 pound steaks so I figured it seemed like a good middle ground (plus it was nice and thick!).

u gota know wtf ur doing! its worth a try though.. :smoke:

  7. Maybe it is just my cooking skills then haha, thanks for the tip!

  8. If you want healthy fat into your diet try taking a shot of olive oil. It might taste horrible at first but it's not that bad. I did this for about 3mo. last year when I was trying to put on some weight lol

  9. I thought I saw someone on here saying that! A shot of that should be easily downed with water after I'd imagine.

  10. Some of that white on the edge of a steak is connective tissue too. It's gonna be chewy and nasty. If you want fat from meat, you can also try ground beef, chuck roast, or pork shoulder.

  11. agreed and it is a bitch to get off. I always deal with it when smoking some baby back ribs.

  12. Don't eat stake so count me out of this debate.

  13. I've honestly been thinking about giving up pork as well. I don't eat beef, well rarely. I love pork but I cannot digest it properly and flares up my acid reflux. So thinking about just eating fish and chicken. Chicken is my all time favorite so fuck it.

  14. I only eat fish and chicken :)

  15. Try some other cuts, top sirloin can be pretty tough sometimes, especially the fat.

I like rib eye, or tenderloin if it's not too pricey. These usually have more fat than a sirloin, but the fat is marbled through the meat, and is nice and tender.

Shit, I want a steak now.

  16. I don't eat the fat on any meat.

My fat homie loves that shit, he says that's where all the flavor's at haha.

  17. Thanks all for the replies. I will try some better cuts next time around! For those saying they love chicken and fish, so do I haha. I'm pretty bad at preparing chicken though as I always overdo it. Fish on the other hand I can make quite nicely and really enjoy!

  18. has to be a quality steak.

but you can eat more avocados or supplement with krill oil. you don't really need the fat from the steak, it's not what you are after.

  19. The fat does contain a shit load of flavor.... I used to never eat it but now occasionally ill leave a little on a bigger piece of steak that im chewing... so it goes together haha.

I wouldnt eat it by itself.. just not my thing lol

  20. The fat is like the best part, at least for me.

I always try to get the ones with lots of marbling. You don't like the fat? You guys are trippin'
