Two Sets of Advice on Heating Nail

  1. Hi, i just got this dab rig recently and i have two friend who've given me conflicting sets of advice on how to torch the nail to heat it up. The first friend says that you heat it from the side, that doing it downwards would melt?/crack? the glass pipe underneath. The second friend's old piece had something similar happen to his, but I believe it was something more directly related to flames hitting the glass, which (pictured) isn't a problem. The second friend says to torch it directly downwards, onto the flat plate of the nail, which i want to agree with. Which of these is proper?

  3. I also torch from the side seems like it warms up faster.

  4. From the side or bottom

  5. Fyi its an oil rig not dab rig. From the side. Buddy that told you about cracking the glass is correct.

  6. I torch mine from the top all the time. Never had a crack form in my glass.

It really doesn't matter, just don't bathe your glass in fire and it'll be fine.
