Military Stoners

Discussion in 'General' started by ClintonIce, Jan 15, 2015.

  1. Warning: this is my first big post in any forum, so please bear with me😬

Alright, since that's out of the way I guess a little back story is in order. I'm an 18 year old blade from a hick town in NC, and I've been toking since I was 13 or so. Over the years I've come to develop a long (relative to me) and beautiful relationship with our beloved herb.

But alas, after high school... Real life punched me right in the nads. I couldn't work a fast food job and live with my mom forever. I also couldn't get any other job since the only thing around here is fast food and closed furniture factories. So here I was faced with the hardest choice I've ever had to make.... Quitting weed after constant smoking, and enlisting in the military.

Honest to god quitting cigarettes was a whole shitload easier than quitting weed for me. I still sometimes wonder how I'm gonna make it 4 years without a single puff!

So I guess what I'd like to do is start a discussion about it. Anyone else have a similar story, or just gave up weed for military life in general?

P.S. : thanks for bearing through all that, fellow blades! Looking forward to the interesting posts to come

  2. I did army in 2000. Quitting weed was quite easy, cigs were more difficult. Though whenever I quit weed longer than a few days, i get night sweats and nightmares about a night or two.
Luckily I was born in southern California where there are a crapton of jobs, the only difficulty is crafting a skill to earn money, the cost of living is pretty steep.
Once you join the military, you won't have time to smoke weed for months, and it'll get easier with time. Some guys smoke, but have to do all that 'pass the drug test' headache. Just clean up, get the fuck out of the shit town you're in, and move to where you want to live with some money saved up.

  3. It's gonna come up. Once you're settled in to your duty station, you'll likely come across someone who has weed or who knows where to get it. Just avoid it. I was in for 3 1/2 years and over that time, there were about 20 people who ended up getting caught up on piss tests. Some got sent to the brig. Some got kicked out. It all depended on what type of marine they were before they got in trouble. It's not worth it.

4 years will go by fast as fuck. Get out and go to school on the GI Bill and smoke as much weed while they pay for it all.

  4. Thanks for the responses you two! I already know that I'll be tempted with weed, but it seems like the punishment for failing an army drug test is worse than a felony, so I'll stay very clear of that.

And wooo! Both of you have great suggestions that I'll definitely keep in mind. So the plan now is, serve 4 years as an exemplary soldier, then move to SoCal for college/life while blazing down on the government's dollar. Gotta say, that sounds fuckin' A plus mate

Yes, you do what is best for yourself. You will have plenty of time to smoke cannabis after you serve your time on duty. Look at myself, I smoked before I joined the military. I quit because I knew what was best for myself and then I retired. Now I can smoke every day and I get a paid for it with government pensions and va.

Sometimes you have to sacrifice things you love for those you love, like yourself.

For you own health and safety avoid synthetic marijuana. It's common in the military because it doesn't show up of piss tests. But trust me when I tell you the shit they put in there to get you high is not healthy. Also known as spice, synthetic marijuana is a collective of random chemicals to give off a high that is not only nothing like marijuana, it has also been known to have people hospitalized. Personally living with someone who was seriously addicted to it. I say to avoid it like a plague. The dude I momentarily lived with that smoked it on a daily basis went through withdrawals and had mood swings if he didn't get his fix. Ruined his marriage and got his dumb ass locked up in jail. I've lost all respect for the guy and so has most people around him. Stay safe in the military and stay clean.

Hope you have a fun time on the site!
