Boko Haram crisis: Why it is hard to know the truth in Nigeria

Discussion in 'Politics' started by JakethaSnake, Jan 14, 2015.

  1. Nigerians man.

  2. I always thought it would be cool to be a crisis or wartime journalist but fuck Africa man. Never ever, I'd go to the Middle East, China, India or a war zone but never Africa. Those journalist have balls of steel.

  3. Stay away from Vancouver too.... I heard Mexico City is a shit hole.

  4. That hasn't been my experience driving in Belize.

  5. All of the Boko haram videos I've ever seen are brutal and not much of a surprise for Africa.

But I've also noticed that 99% of them have zero knowledge of how to fight in an effective manner.
    It makes me wonder.

I own a small piece of property near Belmopan, so I've driven through most of the country.

Iguana's not that bad, there's just a lot of small bones to pick through.

ETA: if you live in Florida, then Africa would be a piece of cake. To go back to your original post, I've been to the Middle East, Asia, India and Africa... And I'll take any of them over Florida.

We kinda went a little off topic but I love FL. I use to hate it and want to get far far away but I've come to love it as home. What I consider great weather, I live of the most consistent surfing breaks on the East Coast. Amazing fishing, both river and off shore and a stone through away from Bimini and the Bahamas. There is a lot of bad but the good trumps it. I can't think of too much more comfy that a cozy surf town but my view of the world is limited. Maybe a mountain cottage. Where all have you been? Where do you own more 'exotic' property? Best, worst, favorite?

  10. Boko Haram has not been addressed enough because of how preposterously biased news coverage is. Two thousand were massacred by Boko Haram in Baga. About 300 schoolgirls were kidnapped and likely sold into slavery. Yet there was no "Je Suis Charlie" monment for them. Very few people are aware of this topic and even less even give a shit about it. I don't mean to seem harsh but people don't seem to care unless it happens to white people. The massacre in Baga is almost on the scale of 9/11 and no seems tothink it even matters. a testament to American jingoism.

  11. The American government doesn't really have anything to gain by starting another war in that part of the world and since they own the media and dictate what is said there's really no use in reporting it. No sense in wasting pr and pissing off an already war weary public for a cause that the elite will not profit from.

  12. Hey now people I thought the almight Twitter Campaign was supposed to free everyone and save them? Nope ... but it was funny seeing the liberal news drool over M.Obama with her sign and go on and on how this would free them.

  13. Where is that clown Bono ?
He is always bleeding on about Africa and "debt" and what "we"need to do.

Monsanto obviously have no opinion or interest in Boko Haram...

Sent from the back of a jihadist donkey...

  14.
Yeah, those crazy old retired rich people make Boko Haram look like the Peace Corps.

At least Boko Haram aren't eating people's faces off.

FYI, Africa is a pretty big place. Parts of it are just as cosmopolitan as Miami.

  16. lol

Yes - I'm sure we'd all be much happier being captured by Boko Haram than having to deal with all those face-eating Floridians!

And there are lovely places everywhere. But we're talking Boko Hara territory here, not some cherry-picked resort town.

  17. I was responding to Viscious who mentioned "Africa" as though it was one, homogenous place.

And I'd still take most parts of Africa over Florida - any day.

So that's why you quoted me for your reply - huh, imagine that.  :confused_2:

  19. Because you responded to my response to Viscous.

Do I really need to explain this?
