Just applied at Game Stop. I hear they drug test randomly once a month, is that true? Do they pre-employment drug test because I hear they don't. Anyone know someone employed there recently? I'm just a gamer raccoon stoner trying to find some work.

    ALSO SIDE QUESTION

Anyone know of any other cool video game places for stoners to work at? Arcades, video game stores, etc. THANKS!

  2. Have you checked Chuckie Cheese's?

  3. Why is it so important to identify as a stoner? I never understood being a walking billboard for your hobby or lifestyle. Learn a skill like code or script and make a decent 'stoner' game. Working at a game shop might be chill but being so passionate about the herb and gaming you should do something to further it. You're not going to pick up any handy skills in retail and customer service. There's nothing wrong with those jobs but have some ambition.

  4. i highly doubt they do.  They'd probably have no staff if they did.

especially depending on where you live.  I live in a college town so places like where I work that normally drug test in any other city don't here, because they know if they drug tested everybody they'd have no employees.

plus most hourly jobs have such a high turnover rate it wouldn't be cost effective for them to drug test.

  5. My step-cousin was a regional manager. They do drug test randomly here in FL at least. I'm fairly certain it's not monthly though or they might need suspicion. I'll ask her next time I see her.

  6. hahaha...copy that.

  7. I've never been drug tested in GS. I'm in euro-GS though.. we're a bit more liberal lol

  8. If you work in the Midwest you can work at Vintage Stock. They also do music, movies, comic books, posters, and action figures. No pre-employment or random drug tests. Worked there for over a year.

  9. Fuck working retail for minimum wage. Like vicious said go take some classes and learn a skill and while you're taking those classes find a warehouse job that pays 12+ and has tuition reimbursement. That way you make some actual money, get some of your school for free, and it'll be hard work so it's like a paid gym membership. Wins all around.

  11. I worked at EB games (GameStop) in Canada and never been drug tested

I hated the job though, gets repetitive and consists of:
    -Receiving mail boxes
    -Scanning stuff into inventory
    -Labelling/sale labelling
-Putting trade in/new games into envelopes and sorting
    -Putting cases on the floor
-Running a till/cash out at end of night
    -Customer service
    -Facing products
-Pushing preorders, gameplay guarantees and warranties.
-Maintaining floor, vacuuming, window wiping and putting up displays

Pretty much EXACTLY what is done in an EB in Canada

  14. i would look into actual gaming companies man. i turned it into a hobbie applying for activison (Raven Software branch) I got as far as 2 interviews, 2 tours which was good. 2nd tour i spoted someone i knew. so now he made sure i was on the top of the list. Now just waiting for the opening and pre-employment wizz quiz..which ill pass of course :). but after 3 years you can make 60K a year. i can live with that.
