Hey guys! Growing 2 big devils in my 3x3x6 tent! Thought i could share, and hopefully get input from experts, to produce some lovely girls! Was hoping to share my progress on my 2nd grow. My 1st grow, I did straight DWC but constantly fought high water temps. I am using a home-made recirculating deep water culture this time. I started using just a recirculating top-feed drip system, but once the roots grew out of the net pots (1 week ago) switched to DWC. This keeps the majority of the water outside the tent, and at a constant temp of 65-68 degrees. I am using a 5 gal bucket as a reservoir and two 3.5 gal buckets for the Big Devils. I have air stones, in the plant buckets, but not the reservoir. I pump water from the reservoir, to the buckets and have tubing at the bottom, to carry the old water back to the reservoir. This is great because it keeps temps down, and if the water level drops, I simply raise the reservoir a few inches. For lighting I started with 400W MH sky blue, and last week (week 4) started with my 400wHPS hortilux eye. I also have 2 kessil H150 magenta leds added week 4 as well, with goosenecks (1 for each Big Devil) I was running for 3 weeks at 19-5 hours, but switched week 4 to 18-6 I got the seeds from sweet seeds, and so far have popped 4. All have been large females. One of them this time is significantly smaller than the other, I have no clue why. For nutrients I am using House and Garden Aqua flakes A+B and drip clean. Nothing else as of yet. WIll eventually add Bud XL and Top Shooter as they develop. For ventilation I have a can fan 6 inch, sucking through a Phresh carbon filter, pushing air through the cool-tube, and out the back of the tent. My temps stay around 75 with lows of 73 highs of 80. Temps drop to 64-65 deg at night. RHumidity has been really low throughout the grow. about 15-20%. Now it is averaging 30% (probably because of plants transpiring Here are some pics. Tell me what you think! I have named them Tall girl (left) and Fat woman (right) (for obvious reasons) I am hoping to get fat woman a little taller, and to get Tall girl to stop vegging. They both started showing signs of preflower week 3 (day 18 or so) I am now beggining week 2 of flowering (day 29) They are both still vegging like crazy. fat woman still needs to grow. I am concerned Tall boy will outgrow my tent! Here are some pics. Both BDs day 29 Comments, Advice?
Your plants look awesome! After seeing these pictures and growing the dark devil a few times I can definitely see the relation. Every time I grow dark devil (done 3 runs now with my friend doing 2 I kept an eye on) you can see leaves which look exactly like the ones on your plant and you can find leaves that are thin, twisted, and just plain weird. Those ones I suspect are from the pakistani kush purple or whatever they say they crossed big devil with.
I like them a-lot for dark spots in the tent/color balance. The problem with the h150s is they project like a flashlight. So too close and they burn the plant, too far and the hue isn't noticeable along with HPS. I find around 11-12 inches works if your tent/room is cool. The good thing is they are small, and w/ the gooseneck you can get directed light wherever you like on the plant. Here is a pic with just kessils on.
I find all my leaves start out kushy then sorta fill out... most of the time lol. Yea I really wanna try Dark Devil next. BD grows to large for my little tent, and the buds off those DDs look awesome! Can't wait to see how yours turn out. Any pics from your last DD harvest?

1st update So day 31 I definitely have alternating nodes on both plants! the pic is of the tall one More hair sites, but still no actual bud growth yet : ( I have had pistils since day 18 or so... What is a good way, to help light get through the canopy on the smaller plant? should i cut the tips of the leaves? I am new at this, and terrified to touch the plants much, as far as bending or trimming goes. I have read quite a bit about lsting and other methods but also read they can stress autos. However not much light is getting through those top leaves on the little fat one. Any advice?
So day 36. I believe they are still vegging. I added some BudXL to the aquaflakes. I am starting to get more nervous. The tall plant on the left is now 3 feet. (my tent is 6 feet minus some room for light and carbon filter) Does she show any sign of flowering? I know she has hairs and alternating nodes, but I need flowers! I have kept on 18-6 thus far, and read so many mixed reviews on switching to 12-12. I don't have many options. I know these girls stretch at least double after flowers show. I would prefer to keep lights on due to ambient temps, but I could use a space heater if 12-12 is whats needed in this situation. All the pics are of the tall plant on the left, except for the last pic. That is the top of the shorter one. Any sign of flowers??? Please Help!
I wonder if you need a screen to hold them down and possibly increase bud sites? I'd probably rig up a screen which could be lowered down a little everyday with some low stress training. You could build a screen from stringline and 3/4" wooden dowels. Predill screw holes when assembling and drill holes for attaching the stringline. Build it to fit snug inside the tent poles and then place a few zip ties in each corner. The zip ties will hold it at your hieght and allow you to slide each corner up or down as you see fit. I have read the autoflowers will produce less bud at a 12/12 light schedule. How long did the seed company state the plants life cycle would be?
They claim 9 weeks from germination I have read that too. I want to avoid 12-12 at all costs. I am just unsure if they will flower without it. Running out of real estate in that tent. I am nervous to try the screen. I'd do it if I had someone to show me how, but i don't want to accidentally snap them. I am going into week 6 now. Sweet seeds is supposed to be reputable, however I know these trees take more then 9 weeks usually. My 1st grow I harvested at day 110 and could have gone longer. I just thought it was because I made a bunch of errors.
So I got some help In Loki's auto-flower thread. I am going to keep them at 18-6. I wish I knew how to do the screens. Would come in handy for this grow

I agree. I couldn't email sweet seeds because their site was down, but I found Tommy G on another forum. He is a sweet seeds guru, and he said... Which Big Devil is it? Big Devil #1 Big Devil #2 Big Devil XL Big Devil F1 FV 36 days from germination and not flowering yet is not usual, but it's a mostly sativa autoflowering strain and you probably got the most sativa phenos. If that's the case they will probably start forming flowers very soon. And then everything happens really quick so hopefully they are not that late in the end. Let me know about which strain it is and if you have the package where they came from let me know also the date and lote number printed in the back of the package (or a picture of the package). I just went and bought some H&G Top booster http://www.house-garden.us/top-booster I added it to the res. Hopefully I will see some flowers soon. I tried growing 2 of these my first time, and ended up going 12-12 lighting for a week or 2 (around week 7 I believe) before they flowered last time. However i also believe they continued flowering after I switched back to 19-5, so most likely the 12-12 wasn't necessary. They would have flowered, because from what I understand, non autos will continue to veg under 19-5, even if flowering has been already induced.
