Best strain seeds for outdoor grows

  1. Hey guys, I'm new here and to growing. I've been doing some reading up and stuff and decided to do some off-property outdoor growing in the state of Washington. I have a good idea for a setup and how to maintain it, but I was wanting some advice on seeds.

I live in Washington state, it's incredibly rainy, damp, and reaches around 90's at top in the summer time. I plan to grow in the woods only maintaining it every couple of days, so I want it to be hearty on its own accord. What good strains would be best for growing in harsh environments? I'm looking for both Indicas and Sativas, hybrids are fine but I prefer non-hybrid strains. Also, where would be good places to shop for seeds? Online? Local Dispensaries?

    All help is appreciated, thanks!

  2. Virtually any seed will grow well outside if you provide nutes and water.

  3. Well, we have a nutrient system in mind, but that's another concern.... It rains here in Washington virtually every single day, so I'm concerned with the plants being drowned. Will that be a problem?

  4. Not if you put a good amount of perlite in your soil mix.  ;)  Just make sure the roots get some air.

  5. How much is Perlite and what exactly would that do for the plants and roots?

  6. I did black berry and a white widow cross along with others but they did very well.

If you are on the west coast you plant on a slope so the water drains off Even little hills or mounds. On the east side we plant in shallow depressions to catch and hold water.  Perlite helps the soil drain, if the soil is clay you need to prep the spot with some better soil, perlite, composted manure, bone meal and blood meal, earthworm castings.

Anyway you have at least 4 months before anything will grow worth a damn. Its still cool out but you should be getting your seeds ordered.

Google "the vault seed bank"  great people.

  7. Oh, thanks. I'll look into it. Are there any guides that explain the difference between Male and Female seeds, what they do differently, and which should be used in which cases?

  8. I don't see you having a whole lot of luck running pure sativas. Most sativas take too long to finish and won't hold up well to the cold and rain of your climate. Indicas and hybrids are a much safer choice. Most of all look for early finishing/mold resistant strains.

  9. We were going to grow Indicas mostly anyways, thanks for the advice. :)

  10.
Buy feminized seeds, there are only female and regular seeds. Only the feminized are known girls the others are anything.

Hehehe the difference is the female seeds grow weed and the male plants don't! Fem seeds are garunteed to be females. Reg seeds will be a mix of male and females. Just like how woman are the ones who have babies, female plants are the ones that grow weed. The only use for a male is if you wanted to make seeds. Then you would pollinate a female with pollen from the male plant. I'd do some google searches to answer any more questions. There is a lot to learn. If you have any Bagseed you could grow, that's a great place to start.
