Shitty Mixtape

  1. so I was introduced to this kid named Say by another friend of mine while we were chilling and smoking. we started talking about music and realized that we had a similar taste in music. it turns out that he raps and he ended up putting an instrumental on. I'm like, "so are we freestyling or what?" (he didn't know I've honed my freestyle skills throughout the years). he goes "yeah, you take it first."

so for like 7 instrumentals straight, we're freestyling and killing shit. I was surprised that he was actually pretty decent. I guess he was impressed by my freestyle abilities and asked me to join him for his mixtape. I'm like FUCK YEAH MAN! in all honesty, i'm not even a rapper, but I do write verses quite often and freestyle with the homies while smoking and chilling. it's just fun to me and I'm half way decent with a nice flow.

so anyway, he gives me a beat to write my verse to, and I'm shitting bricks because I've never really recorded music before and I was scared that my verse wasn't going to be up to par. I eventually get like half a verse together, and Say and I get together to record.

he plays me his verse, and it's ass. sorry Say, but your shit is trash man. hearing his verse took a lot of pressure off my shoulders, and I record the half verse that I had, and just kept writing more and ended up with a kick ass verse, and even freestyled a few bars at the end of it because I was just feeling the beat.

so we're sitting there listening to all of the tracks on his mixtape, including the track that I'm on, and it becomes clear pretty quickly that I had the best verse on the whole project. now, I'm not really a rapper or really want a career in the rap industry, but it is a hobby that I enjoy. still, i'm slightly upset that I wasted a pretty nice verse on this kid's shitty mixtape that no one is gonna hear (probably for the better).

oh well, at least I gained some recording experience and worked with an actual mic and amplifier and shit. at least I can say I ether'd this kid on his own track.

    tl;dr

some kid featured me on his mixtape and I undoubtedly have the best verse on the whole project.

  2. Link me the so called "shitty" mixtape you mentioned. I really want to listen to it.  :hide:
