Should I chop now or flush?

Discussion in 'Growing Organic Marijuana' started by RaJay, Dec 29, 2014.

  1. Hey guys, here are a few of my Auto plants. All planted October 1st. The little solo plant, (SuperHashPlant) is ready for harvestbecause the leaves are turning yellow, but I slacked a bit and have not flushed until today. Is a 1 day flush on an outdoor plant given no additives besides water good enough? And should I leave this in a dark room for a day or so before chopping it?
\nThe other two took a bit longer to flower, the one on the right still has a few white hairs growing, but being an auto I feel it is just about done. Should I start flushing it? Or as asked above would a flush on these plants not be necessary.?
\nKeep this in mind, I am going to make BHO out of them.
    \nThanks yall!

If you are growing organic (water only), what's to flush? I've read that six hours of darkness is sufficient. Wish I had saved that... At any rate, I'm chopping three around midnight tonight.

Have you checked their trichomes with a loupe?

  3. soon very soon.

a flush on any organic plant is pointless, if you are referring to just giving them water, well that's different.
Don't let them sell you another bottle.
Also i'm not too sure they are done, but it's impossible to tell from the picture, but the yellowing of the leaves on that one isn't because it's done.

  5. It is an Auto, and should be comming to the end of its life cycle... what do you think the yellow could mean then? I took real good care of these. No white hairs, bud looks plump now, crystals everywhere, and each day it turns more yellow. I think ill put it in the dark for today then chop it tomorrow morning, stuff it in my extraction tube, throw it in the freezer for another day and run BHO

  6. The other two plants in the picture together both got white hairs, and have yet to plump up yet. Thoes I say 1-2weeks max

could be many things, usually overfeeding or too much undissolved nutrients in the soil will do that.
I'd need more information and better pictures to tell you for sure, but normally a healthy cannabis plant won't exhibit that sort of yellowing when its mature, on some, the lower sunleaves will yellow, but its a uniform yellowing, not where the "veins" are different colors.
To give you a better advice i'd need to know the soil mix, watering frequency, any nutrients given, ph altering, etc, etc.
I can tell you that a healthy cannabis plant can and should have 80-90% of the leaves green. Like I said before, the older and lower sunleaves will yellow, but it doesn't look like the yellowing you have.
If I were to guess i'd say too much nutrients and/or a poorly draining media is the culprit. However, with the information and pics provided it's purely an educated guess.

  8. I always go by how the trichomes look, they should be cloudy with some amber mixed in. I'm not sure what % of amber trichomes there should be.

  9. Everything you have mentioned sounds like this plant is ready to chop. The yellowing leaves are perfectly normal. Nice job.

  11. So I'll bomb this thread, on the same topic. I started growing again, organically (thank god). I know everything my soil gets. I use AACT with all the basics, nothing comes pre mixed or bottled or whatever. I was thinking along the same lines...
Last time I flushed til my bottom water coming out was under 100ppm.
But now I'm thinking... What's the point?
So my new take is RO and stress the last two weeks... That's all? Right.
    Thanks.

  13. I forget whete I read a good post (at least I think) about when a harvest really is ready besides your basic "trichome" color. Talked about people chopping too early, and strongly recomended to let it go longer than when you think its done and the plant starts to yellow.

Im sure its done, and ready (looks, feels and smells it) I was just woundering if I should bother flushing or not.

It was FoxFarm Ocean (something) soil.. I did not add any nutrience to the soil.. only what was in the mix already. Watered about 3-4 times a week.. really whenever the soil seemed to dry up. Im using these fiber type cloth type bags made for growing ovbiously.. soft pots basically to drain water better, and allow roots to breath more.

  14. If you were watering three or four times per week, it may just be overwatered. Mine get watered maybe twice a week. But I'm using a SIP setup and 5 gallon smart pots. (Cloth)

  15. if you never fed them they probably are a lil hungry, at this point i'd let em finish, certainly won't need any flushing when you haven't fed them.
You'll probably get a little different taste, when I did two harvests with no food, the taste was a lil different than normal, not bad, but different. Especially for the jack herer, that one lost all it's "juicy-fruit" taste when given no food.
    Interesting..
yellowing would be totally normal, if not expected under your growing conditions.

  16. Hmmm, Id think maybe in a indoor grow youd need to feed them nutrients, but on my organic outdoor grows, water, sun, and time should be good, no? Not sure if I mentioned or not, but I'm starting to grow Autos to run personal BHO. So as far as additives into the plant I stay away from. Not saying it would have a negitive effect on the wax, but it could I feel like as far as quality. I been growing outdoor buds for a couple years, just for the fun of growing it and having some personals and what not, but I always sucked big time when it came to drying/curing. I'd like to get my knowledge up on the growing process of the plant to control my BHO run outcome as much as I can. I'd like to learn and perfect the drying/curing process as well for when I want buds, but for now I'm focused on Organic BHO.

Would feeding it nutrients and different additives be considered NOT organic? Again, I've grown for a couple years, but did without much knowledge on nutrients, and all these little things to do and give it during its growing process. Recently I've become interested in doing so.

Also, if I dont use nutrients you get a weird taste? I've always loved organic grown but with no additives. Just knowing its 100% pure & natural is cool, at least to me.

  17. I grow indoors and feed them nothing. The soil has everything they need if made correctly and full I'd microbes to do the work. The smell and taste is wonderful. Better than anything I ever bought.

  18. It depends on what you give them. I do use things like the occasional ACT, coconut water and aloe Vera juice, but those aren't so much nutrients as soil conditioners and SAR triggers.

ACT adds lots of microbes and fungi to the soil which feed the plant the nutrients in the soil. It is also applied as a foliar spray to set up beneficial bacterial colonies which prevent bad ones from getting a foothold.

The coconut water and aloe Vera contain saponins which have lots of benefits.(see link below)

  19. What is SAR.. what happens when they are triggered. Im super basic and just learning about the science behind how and what to feed the plant to get the most out of it.. Organically
