Don't know if it's against the rules or anything to post about this but, I'm thinking about buying one of those radars for the car so you know how close they are. I was actually at best buy yesterday when my buddy calls me and I tell him I'm there looking at them and shit. He then tells me they only work when the cop is using the radar to check like your speed or something? I want one that goes off when you get closer to a cop, I didn't see any other posts so I figured I'd post here. Thanks for the help if anyone has input. Sent from my iPhone using Grasscity Forum
I had one for a while but I only go 5-10 over and our cops arent super dicks so I never get pulled over..cops usually always have the detector in their car going so its nice if you just wanna know where they are in the general vacinity
the last sentence is why I'm looking for one, me and one of my friends whenever we wanna blaze will go to this spots on the end of dead end roads where there are these small parking lots and I feel if I had a radar that could detect when they're coming down that road I could get out of there quickly Sent from my iPhone using Grasscity Forum
I know the old ones had about a block range to the sides and like half mile to mile front and back with no obstruction..newer ones prob have a better radius i would look us reviews on amazon first
Hahaha why do you think they call it a dead end road? One way in...one way out. How you gonna dip out when the five-o is headed directly for your ass with high beam lights and helicoptors and all that shit?
I only know if radars that pick up when the cop is using his radar. Cause they pick up the bandwidth...ya. I got one, its helpful, always got it on especially when bud is in the car
I've got the bell v10, not bad, it doesn't pick up the car just cause it's a cop car, it picks up the radar and only if it's on and within range. Lasers, ha, you're screwed unless it catches a beam off of someone else before you roll up. Now if they have the static radar on, mine will pick it up as far as the radar beam goes, sometimes it's not till I'm right up on it, sometimes as far as a mile away. It shouldn't be used as a full blown "I know where they are device," but more as a possible early warning if they're looking for speeders.
Considering how reliable radar detectors are (and they are kind-of, dont get me wrong), you could always use waze... its a good app for highways at least because people tend to keep up with marking where cops are on them. I use the waze app on trips and have never gotten a ticket and I usually drive 5-10 mph over. In the city though, people rarely keep up with marking where they're at because they are always moving.
