how to stop roots from growing out the bottom of pot but allow good drainage?

  1. I have roots starting to grow out of the bottom of a 2 gallon pot what should I do? I can't really replant it at the moment what should I put at the bottom of the pots in the future where water will be able to drain well but roots will not be able to get past? Thanks ahead of time! :)

  2. how much roots are coming out?
it's normal for a few root tips to find their way out of the holes..

  3. Right now only 1 but this girl is almost a month and still has a lot more growing to do so I am worried a bit.

  4. Like Augustwest said, its not really a big deal. If you want some comfort, just know that for every root you see pop out the bottom, there are dozens of others finding their way around in there.

  5. Listen to these fellars. They'll keep ya on the right track :D

  6. Roots coming out will just dry out and die back. No harm will come of it

  7. You could buy a smart pot. I bought it to transplant my plant because it was doing the same thing. I over thought it completely and was stressing out, but listen to these guys, your plant will be fine and there is nothing to worry about. Again, look into smart fabric pots.
