Cleaning This Bowl (Acrylic)

Discussion in 'Smoking Pipes, Glass Spoon Pipes' started by Chacal, Dec 22, 2014.

  1. My friend gave me this a while back, I think he said it was silicon and acrylic? Anyways, I used it for a while and it got really clogged up. I tried cleaning it today with some isopropyl alcohol and salt, which did remove some stuff from it, and I scraped it with bobby pins (the bowl and the mouthpiece), but it's still clogged enough that there's no airflow. It's kind of hard to see what's clogged too, any suggestions/cleaning tips? I have another piece, so I don't need it clean this second, but I'd like to get it back to functional. Thanks in advance!

  2. It looks like that'll be one of those pieces you're gonna have to let sit in the alcohol for a while and then maybe put it in a baggie with alcohol and salt then shake and then scrape out so you can get all those small nooks and crannies.

  3. Yeah, we didn't have that much left in the house so I just used what we had (it was an okay amount but didn't completely cover the whole thing). I'll probably just buy another bottle and let it soak for the night, hopefully that'll do the trick.

  4. Never seen an acrylic bowl, personally I wouldn't use something made of that or any other plastic/oil based material.
But yea, soak it in some strong alcohol with salt for awhile.. Or just toss it, I can't imagine smoking out of that material is very healthy.

  5. Drop it in a bowl of hot water

  6. The holes for airflow on some pipes are super skinny and get clogged to the max very easily. I used to have a POS pipe like that back in the 80's. I could not clear it, so I threw it away and got something more practical. Rubbing alcohol is not a good thing to use because it will hurt your throat and lungs when you smoke out of it.
