hey guys, this is my second grow journal on grasscity. im starting off a bit late due to moving and other bullshit, but im glad to get another grow going and hoping to get way better results this time. the strain is fruity widow from 710 genetics (blue widow) and so far its been vegged for two months in straight ocean forest under a 250 watt mh. just transferred to a 10 gallon pot under the 1000 mh a couple days ago. installed chicken wire scrog screen yesterday also. I basically monster cropped this grow (topped at fifth knode, topped about ten more times, lst'd then supercropped). it has about 30 tops now, just using the screen to make sure the top is nice and even before flowering. I'll keep you guys posted throughout the grow, im curious to see what my yield will be this time free seed- ultraviolet auto, threw in a monster can and forgot about it, flowered under 250 watt mh with the bluewidow. looks like some dank bud though
decided to ditch the screen for now to get some lower growth to catch up, tied down main branches again and supercropped the taller ones in the middle. In case someone is wondering, a really easy way to tie the branches down is to use thread tape, the kind you get at autozone. its really soft and wont skin the branches. tape it to the pot and you're good to go
That's an ambitious project. She's going to be a beast. I'm glad you had at least the one auto in there to help use up some of that extra lighting. It would be a shame for it to go to waste. Maybe the next grow you could start several plants at the same time. Veg them all for 4-6 weeks, then flower out most of them while you wait for your prize girl to continue veggie and filling the screen.
hey man thanks for stopping in, and ya i totally agree. i was honestly of thinking of making this a nice mother plant and flowering it out later on after a bunch of clones, but i live in florida so its basically the death penalty for growing in numbers. one plant might not be that bad
topped, tied down and supercropped for the last time today. prbly going to flower in a week, im happy with the number of bud sites there are now
how tall should i get the budsites before flowering? any input is welcome. not worried about height I've got plenty of room, and i know about the initial stretch, just want to keep internode length really short so i have nice thick buds. what do you think?
im going for my first 1 lb plant on this grow, so i think i'll put the screen back on and veg for another 2 weeks. hopefully it will be at least 3'x3' before flowering
Going to need to fill the hell outta the screen for a pounder. let tips grow through first day of flower and get a ton of nice tall colas.
thanks for the reply man, ya i have a shitload of tops that arent getting light. all the new ones i got from lst training are shaded so i definately need the screen for a lb. might try and make one tonight
do you think 1 more week of veg will fill out a 4x4 screen? its been 3 months in veg so im ready to flower asap
If anything you can fill the rest the first week of flower after that during her stretch. Just dont let it go too long or your colas may be smaller
thanks for the advise erly bird, i finally got a makeshift screen up today so im gonna veg one more week and see how it works out. alot more light to the smaller tops now, cant wait to see my final yield this time! i know its a long shot, but i really want to get at least 10 ounces or more off this grow. ive got plenty of ventilation, 10 gallon pot, quality soil and 1k watts of light, but i need everyones help and wise words more than anything. thanks again
ultraviolet automatic from samsara seeds. it was a freebie so i grew it under a 250 watt mh alongside the big plant. im now a firm believer that adding mh during flower helps out trichome pruduction. i might hang my 250 watt mh vertical to supplement my hps during flower
first day of flower will be thursday, using the screen got so many more tops. really glad i put it on even thiugh it was later on in the grow
it's good to have the high pressure sodium in there, can't wait to start seeing results. flower day 1 week 1
