General organics or Nectar for the gods

  1. Just like the topic says, I have both and was wondering which people think is better to use, I have the GO box from General Organics and I have 6 huge bottles of Nectar plus Olympus Up (organic PH up) that came in a starter box that my local hydro shop gave me for free to try, the box says its like $80 or something outrageous but it was free!!!

  2. Hey there!

You'll probably have better luck getting your question answered in the indoor growing forum.

We don't use bottled nutrients here, "organic" or otherwise...

  3. Ok thanks sorry I'm new to indoor, what is a simple organic soil recipe that will take me from veg to flower? I do like the idea of never mixing nutes again

    No need to apologize.

If your interested in mixing your own soil, you can start here to get a general idea of what it's all about and how to do it...

The following recipe is much simpler, as far as ingredients are concerned.  This is the most basic version that will provide all nutrients needed to get all the way though flowering.  Please keep in mind that THIS recipe is built with homemade compost and vermicompost, which may be more work than you're willing/able to do at this point in the game.  If you can source top quality compost/vermicompost for the "humic" component of your soil base, this recipe should work just fine...

While it is true that these soil mixes will work just fine with "water only", they preform at a much higher level if given regular applications of aloe, coconut, liquid silica (I "fibbed" a bit, this is the one bottled "nute" that we do use on a regular basis), and fulvic acid.  These products contain natural growth stimulants and crazy amounts of enzymes, which tend to facilitate increased rates of nutrient cycling.  Higher rates of nutrient cycling mean more available soluble nutrients that a plant can use.  If built correctly, these soil mixes don't need any testing of pH runoff or adjustment of the pH of the water that you use.  ph in living soils is self regulating.  Another added benefit to mixing your own soil is that you can reuse it over and over again with minimal amending.  It saves a ton of $$$ over the long haul...

You can use these soil mixes for your outdoor plants as well.

  5. Not to nitpick but potassium silicate is just a mined mineral mixed into water.

Doesn't have to come in a bottle though it is easier using it after its been measured and premixed. I buy it in powder form and mix myself to save money, rather than pay for the water in a product like Protekt.

  6. I actually called the manufacturer of Protekt a couple years back. They actually admitted to me on the phone that it was nothing but AgSil21 mixed with water.  There was 'talk' about it not being organic back then and I did a little homework on it.

  7. I’ve been using General Organics for years. Works great! I love no till TLO Organics the best but there is less room for errors. I’ve messed up more TLO crops with trying to source same ingredients. With General Organics it is simple. Quality is 95 percent of the TLO imo. Check out my grows on smotlys strain tests. Haven’t tried notg. Sounds promising though. My friend tried it with great results and he is new.
