What is wrong with my girls?

  1. I am unsure why the leaves are curling down. I am a noob and read that people call this the "claw". What would cause this clawing? Any info that is needed just ask!

  2. What type of soil, and nutrients are you using?
    Grow area temperature?
Have you tested the ph of your soil/run off?

  3. Nitrogen's too hot....just give em a good flood.....dont feed em for a week....thats not pure coco coir is it? Never understood why anybody would grow in just that....too much fiddling required for newbies....if it is, same still applies...the nitrogens too hot..they just need a good flood and then leave em alone for a week...or 5 days..depends on the heat....

  4. Clearer pucs always helps, like pics of the problem leaves etc.

But clawing can be caused by a lot of things but is usually down to too much nitrogen being available to the plant.

If you got a 3 galling pot just run through 3ish gallons half at a time to clear out any salt buildups and excess nutes.

Then when it's ready for a feed again just feed a little less than before:

  5. I am using a soil mix of 50/50 ffof and ffhf with roughly 20% perlite. I am using the ff trio for nutes. The temp in my grow area varies pretty drastically...the max is 80f with lights on and the min is 60f with lights off. Usually the temp is in the mid to upper 70s tho. I have yet to test the pH. I have a Hanna meter but I'm unsure of the proper way to check runoff.

  6. I was thinking to much N also but I am following the feeding chart(1/4 strength). It is a soil medium not coco coir. Lol okay so should I just use distilled water to flush?

  7. Thanks bro! I am currently dog sitting so it will be a few days til I can flush. Will they be okay until then?

  8. It MAY well be an excess of N, but it could be overwatering too.  Soil mix is great, temps are fine and following the FF schedule tends to make me think it is too much water.

  9. Distilled? No, ditchwater....ANY water...Distilled is ok but why go to the expense? Makes zero difference...water from your tap set out for a few hours is just fine.....distilled water costs more than regular water and really makes zero difference to anything regarding the growth of plants....

  10. Gotcha. Didn't know if water pH mattered with flushing.

  11. Yes PH does matter when flushing.
Pour water into bottles and leave on side for 24hours with Lis off to evaporate all the bad stuff.

Then Flush but PH also, at the end of the day the water is still going into your soil what your plant is drinking from so why would you not PH.

  12. Looks like overwatering to me, wet feet starves the roots of oxygen. Let the soil dry out more between waterings.

  13. I would agree with overwatering.

Flushing your plants with tons of water will only compound your problem.

Is there adequate drainage in those? Maybe its not overwatering but there's no where for the water to go.

Anyhow when you water the plant and it drains through the soil and evaporates it leaves behind pockets of air. Your roots absolutely need this as much as it needs water.

It could also be that your plants may be getting rootbound. The roots essentially are as deep as the plant is tall.
