A Tribe Called Quest.....

Discussion in 'Music genres, Bands and Artists' started by shermdawg767, Dec 19, 2014.

  1. I've been slowly started listen to old school Hip hop or real hip hop as I like to call it now. It's been a true revelation to realize how hip hop started, and I've learned to have a new respect for rap back in the day.

Though it's true music is opinionated when it goes to what people like. But if we're talking lyricism, not to mention the beats. Early 80's and late 90's hip-hop is Golden. I'm still starting my journey into learning true rap, I'm excited to discover classic artist.

I've started with A Tribe Called Quest from a recommendation. I've listen to The Low End Theory, and Midnight Marauders. I think enjoy Midnight a bit more but there both amazing!!!

Let me know what you think about the old school, favorite artist from that era, along with any recommendations ( much appreciated), and what's your opinion on what hip hop is today compared to what it was before.
    Stay John Blazed!!!!! ;)

  2.
Under notable artist it has a listing of every artist who was prevalent during the golden age of hip hop.

I figured it was better than no one posting in this thread at all.  :confused_2:

  3. I just dont see how listing artists from the "golden age" is adding to the discussion though. Everyone already knows who popular artists from the 80s and 90s were. Why not talk about ATCQ or post a song or something.

  4. 1) Illmatic - Nas
    2) The Low End Theory - A Tribe Called Quest
    3) Raekwon - Only Built 4 Cuban Linx
    4) Lets Get Free - Dead Prez
    5) The Score - The Fugees
    6) ATLiens - OutKast
    7) Liquid Swords - GZA/Genius
    8) The Infamous - Mobb Deep
    9) Slim Shady LP - Eminem
    10) Return of the 36 Chambers - Ol Dirty Bastard

Those are my top 10 albums.

Most are from the Golden Age of Hip Hop.

Have any of you visited the thread hip hop round table? its all rap, how is any of that hip hop? anyways...

A tribe called Quest is pretty damn good. If were talking old school artists, gotta get guys like KRS and Africa bamboda who have help hip hop become all it is today. Grand Master Flash, Masta Ace, I could go on for days...
There are enough authentic modern hip hop artists out there that never sold out, producing quality hip hop songs as well. Hip hop is a medium for modern interpertation of reality - as accurately as objectively possible from each individual artist.

Since we are on the topic- what do you fuckers think?\\
