Mom is starting to Come Around

Discussion in 'Medical Marijuana Usage and Applications' started by lessthanjeezy, Dec 18, 2014.

  1. Hey everyone,

So a little background, I am an avid advocate of MMJ and my mother has been suffering for the last two years battling lung cancer. She has been going through chemo for two years and recently the chemo stopped being effective and the doctor offered my mom an MMJ prescription (we live in NJ, land of the terrible medical program)
My mom denied it initially as with the way the NJ law is written, she would still have to worry about a drug test where she works, potentially losing her job, benefits and health insurance which she is not willing to do.

The more I have talked to her though, it seems she may do it sooner than later because she is having serious appetite issues and not eating nearly enough.

If anyone has experience with the NJ MMJ program and could send me a message, I would really appreciate it...I am not going to bother with going to an actual dispensary since I know they have been seriously lacking in product and quality, but hopefully can find a more compassionate grower to get a supply for my mom.

Due to the fact that she has lung cancer, I will be primarily making edibles for her as her intake method.

    Talk to you soon GC

  2. Dude! Nows the time! The ban on MMJ (federally) just got lifted, now she doesn't have to worry about losing her job!

  3. I would hope that is the case but I am unsure if that just protects the dispensaries and businesses rather than the patients themselves...If that is the case I will get baking tonight

Before hand the state could say it's legal but the Feds could stomp in and say, raid a dispensary, or a grower. The change effectively takes away their right to do that. That being said, you would have to be a registered medical marijuana patient, dispensary, or registered grower for it too make a huge difference to you.

Of course if her jobs policy doesn't allow it regardless and does tests, the law doesn't matter. :(

  5. Yeah that is what I figured, still probably going to go for it anyway and hope they don't randomly drug test her, they never have before in about 15 years but she is worried now that she has cancer they are going to look for any excuse to get rid of her so they aren't on the hook for any benefits.

  6. maybe if they do, u can claim the THC+ result was from her taking synthetic thc prescribed to her (marinol)

  7. They'd be able to poke holes in that super quickly when they asked her to show a prescription...I am hoping it doesn't get to the point where I have to worry about trying to defend her job...I just want my mom to be more comfortable and be able to eat a damn meal again.

  8. yea man sick world we live in. what state r u in

  9. NJ, the land of the worst MMJ law. That's why even when we get my mom the card, I will still have to get her medicine by other means since the state run dispensaries don't have any product, and it is even more expensive than the streets...Ideally I want to connect with a Compassionate NJ Grower to discuss options

  10. have you tried NJ norml. they could have info to help you and her both on how to proceed with your Mom's personal health improvement via cannabis.

  11. I wouldn't be scared trying to lose my job over the will the live. If the company tries to toss her now and seek for ways to get rid of her in this tragic time that is some sick shit. Then, they are the ones with the problem, not her.

  12. Jesus h christ wtf is this world coming to? I am dying of cancer. If I take medicine for it, I will get fired and lose my health insurance. So I might as well opt for DEATH.

What the fuck is this world coming to?

  13. Yeah it is super fucked up but I am happy she is starting to come around... I think she is finally realizing that its a far better option to possibly get fired then to go through the pain she already is. It is some hard shit to watch a loved one go through, just hoping I can help in some respect bringing cannabis to her.

  14. Unfortunately Corporate America doesn't have a heart, they don't see employees as people, Just dollars.

  15. That is true... Depends on the company though. I wish you and your mom the best in this situation.

  16. I appreciate it,

I emailed CMMNJ to get some info from them and am also going to reach out to NJ NORML

  17. I wish the best for your mom. I've lost family members in many ways & I just wish that the option for mmj was there for them. That's why I'm in college studying biology & political science. It's bs that a medicinal plant is being over ridden by corporate America & their pills & "treatments". Mary Jane & yoga & eating right is how I live. I want to spread this message & send encouragement to your mom.

  18. I appreciate it. Definitely not fun but hopefully I end up helping her out a little bit.
