Cigars. Proper.

  1. anyone in the 'City into smoking cigars? like ones that are kept in a humidor? been reading alot on the topic. i may soon buy my first real cigar. i got brandy for Christmas so i might as well...

i'll break out my top hat and pretend im on the Titanic.

  2. I like the occasional cigar, I've only had them on a few occasions though. Invest in a cigar cutter though, if you're getting into them, they're damn near impossible to cut with even a razor-sharp knife without shredding.

My favourite I've tried is Guantanemara Cristales, they're Cuban, not too intense and also pre-cut so perfect for someone just getting into cigars.

  3. the world of cigars is alot deeper than i initially thought... i went to a local cigar store/lounge and got 5 cigars of varying length, ring size, color and country of origin. it was a gift pack that caught my attention. one of the cigars names is "My Uzi Weighs A Ton." as in the Public Enemy song. havent had that one yet...

cigars have alot of different flavors. one of the Nicaraguan sticks started off with creamy oaky-ness. ans started to finish with peppery cocoa. that finished with sweet nutty-ness. i'll be having an Esteban Carreras Chupa Cabra with my glass(es) of merlot in a little while. fucking awesome night.

  4. Op, i have been enjoying premium cigars for about 10 years.
My uzi weighs a ton is a great stick a little fatter than i like but great flavors. If your just starting out my advice would be...
take your time, a puff every 10 seconds is going to get that thing too hot and will start getting real bitter.
have some sweets handy. You get a strong stick and you can get nic sick, sugary drinks and candy help a lot.
join a forum you can get a lot of knowledge. Puffdotcom is one i belong to but am not too active. Some of those old fogies are not too keen on mj though lol.
dont smoke bud and cigars at the same time. I think it ruins the flavor. I have done it and will probably do it again but it definitely takes away from the experience.
let me know what you had in the sampler/what you liked and i could recommend other sticks. There are a lot of lower priced alternatives that really stand up to the big boys.

i cant remember most of the cigars from the sampler pack, except the Uzi and a massive Asylum 13. the Asylum is so big i dont want to smoke it. since then ive acquired a travel humidor that holds 6(in a few weeks, ill get a larger box humidor didnt realize i would enjoy a cigar so much), and several different sticks.

ive yet to try one with a lighter color outer wrapper leaf. the ones in my travel box are Alec Bradley Prensado, Don Pepin Garcia Original blue label, Esteban Carreras Covenant, A. Fuente Flor Fina 8-5-8, and two Swag red label. the Swag cigars were recommended by store employee. im pretty new to the scene so im trying different kinds to see where i want to be. so far i tend to like a darker cigar(maduro). they tend to have more sweet tones. like chocolates and fruits.

    does woodsy cocoa make sense?

Sure does. Maduros are great. I get a barnyard nuance with a lot of them.... sounds gross but its good.
Alec bradley makes some good sticks swag is an alec bradley release too right?
Check out Surrogates there are 5 or 6 blends my fave is tramp stamp, if you liked that MUWAT you would probably like a Surrogates skullcrusher or bonebreaker there a little cheaper too 7-8 beans per around here.
I dont mess with assylum (is it the 70?) too big, even a 60rg is only ok very rarely.

  7. i get the barnyard tones. reminds me of grass or hay.

im unsure of A. B. releasing the Swag...

ive only had a few different brands so i got alot to look forward too.

  8. Just came back from Cuba and got myself some montecristos. I think they're pretty good

  9. if i lived in Florida, i would have already made that trip.

I live in Canada, cubans are overrated. And the ones worth it cost too much.

I really enjoy some of the CAO line, L'anneversie is a great maduro, for cheap. The Amazon basin is an insane smoke, if you get the chance. The La Traviata maduro is an excellent smoke as well.

Most of the drew estates stuff I've smoked has been quality, although it is pricey up here. Flor de les antillies is a good one, in robusto, in toro I find it to be repulsive. La flor dominicana double ligero is an incredible, but strong one. Patel the edge is consistent.

EDIT: I don't really care for any alec  bradley other than the black market. Burn performance is weak at best, so inconsistent between sticks. I like the flavor of the 'tempus maduro' but, again burn issues plague AB's

  11. Catch 22 byRocky Patel, Xen by Nish Patel, and Olivia Connecticut are my 3 go to's.

  12. There are some cool docs about cuban cigars.
