    Hey everybody,

I hope I posted this in the right section, I wasn't really sure so if it's not, please move it to the correct section :D.

I've been browsing around for the right strains for me to plant this spring but I seriously need some help/advice,

Due to a massive amount of chronic physical ailments I decided to give old fashion pot a chance again and picked up a joint again after 14 years of not touching any at all and noticed I had, even though not sufficient yet, medical benefits from it. I was able to totally drop high dosages of heavy opiates, benzo's and several other heavy medication for several weeks.
Eventually I had to switch back because I simply lacked the right strains for my broad range of bodily problems like heavy chest pain (all over my ribcage), esophagus spasms, shortness of breath, trouble swallowing and the panic attacks my body triggers when all of my ailments kick in together and just making things even worse then they are already. Which I pretty much cure by going into full tranquilizer mode with massive painkilling, lots of anti acids (I seriously have everything in my medicine closet) and then just wait until the episode is over again.

To shortly sum up (for those who haven't read my intro :p) all/most of the conditions I've been bothered by for the last 8 years: Asthma (and general breathing problems due to reflux reaching the lungs and throat), GERD, Hiatal Hernia, Esophagus Spasms, Costochondritis/form of Tietze Syndrome (which runs from my chest pretty much up to my throat), IBS, heavy back pains (upper and lower) lots and lots of muscle pains and because all of these lovely conditions a form of Aspecific Hyperreactivity (as in, I'm not allergic to anything but I CAN react heavily to pretty much anything randomly), Tachycardia and those lovely panic attacks my body creates because it has no idea what to do about stuff happening in my body and pretty much hits the emergency button making things even worse and causing stress and that lovely lump in your throat (Globus) feeling when combined with acid hitting your vocalcords/throat in general. But hey, on the upside Big Pharma makes a ton off of me with no prospect of a cure and me popping pills like they're freakin M&M's all day long and I'm only 27 and can live with this until i'm 150 sooo yay lol.
Any form of, and chance on, an active life as a normal part of society pretty much went down the drain because of all this at my 19th aswell because popping benzo's, heavy opiates and baclofen alone puts you in a couch lock mode way worse then any pot i've ever smoked.
The only 100% cure, eventhough very short lasting, I've found along the years was getting absolutely smashing drunk which made me feel exactly like I did before I was sick, no pains what so ever except for the morning after, and the morning after that and after that and pretty much 2 weeks of recovery and 10x as much pain because everything was totally inflamed and raw on the inside sooo I never did that again haha.

I have been able to experiment a bit with weed though. I bought myself an Arizer Extreme Q (I quit smoking and moved to e-cigs so I'm not going to go back to smoking anyway :p) but even though I'm from The Netherlands and it's legal to buy weed here you actually need a lot of cash to do so (which you don't have when you're sick, you're pretty much p*ss poor lol) especially if you need to try a lot of strains to find the right one for you plus the shops here have near to no knowledge about medicinal application. It's mostly recreational use over here and it's pretty much impossible to get a CBD rich strain over here unless you breed them yourself. Because of that I was pretty much stuck with what I was able to get from friends which consists mostly of trim from heavy sativa's (mostly haze strains). I've never been a fan of heavy sativa's not even as a recreational smoker and now, as a medical user, I noticed it actually changes your pain perception and pretty much works (in my opinion) hyperanalgesic instead of analgesic... which you obviously don't want!

Ofcourse I found some other negative effects like an instant "lump in your throat" feeling after inhaling, some swallowing problems and an annoyed/slightly painful esophagus feeling afterwards and some "wow wtf is going on with this feeling here and that feeling there, I need to panic" moments but I mostly blame that on my body just needing to get used to it since I'm hyper sensitive to panic and paranoia because my body doesn't know wtf is going on 90% of the time :p.
I'm pretty sure I'm not allergic to it, no vomitting, no rashes, no extreme weirdness or death (lol I'm obviously still here) so I might have some extra trouble because of my Hypersensitivity and asthmatic but at this point I'm thinking more along the lines of "I'll get over it if it gets me off of some of these pills".
What I did notice, with whichever kind I smoked, right after the worst trip is over like an hour and a half after inhaling all the pain and problems would be gone for roughly an hour or so so there was some medical benefitial stuff going on there. I might even say that it worked BETTER then the medication I'm currently taking but it only lasted an hour tops. Sooo the psychoactive effect really isn't that important to me, it'll be fun in the long run but it's not specifically what I need to have, I actually rather have the sedative and totally numb effect instead of any form of high.
    To give some examples of the stuff I've been able to try so far and it's effects on me;

Amnesia Haze and Silver Haze buds and trim from outside grow (came from clones so exact genetics are unknown but extreme sativa's for sure) didn't work well for me, my pain often got worse and panic was just waiting to happen.

Jack Herrer mostly trim, some buds from outside grow (exact genetics unknown, seeds from a friend who had no idea either but effects mostly sativa) way too much sativa effects, it was obviously less worse then Amnesia for example but not good.

OG Kush from a coffeeshop (genetics unknown, was presented as a hybrid and generally considered as something with Indica effects but it had mostly, very potent, sativa effects on me) the slightly sedative "afterglow" of this was better but the main heady effects I got for the first couple hours wasn't great.

Blue Cheese from some random shop (genetics unknown aswell I would guess 60/40 Indica/Sativa though) I had a slight couch lock (which I actually enjoy) with this and fell asleep once which was a lot better already but there was still a bit too much much of a head high which really isn't what I'm looking for so it wasn't perfect but it was a lot better already.

As you can see I'm not easy to shop for :p.

I obviously need effects that work heavily on (chronic) pain (a pretty heavy pain actually, roughly 8-9 on a doctors pain scale), constantly tense muscles (in and around my chest area), spasticity of my esophagus and thus stomach sphincter (which obviously doesn't function correctly, studies show weed actually improves it's function so that's a plus as well :) ) which cause swallow problems which eventually lead to panic mode which leads to higher spasticity which leads to more reflux in lungs and throat which leads to more pain that leads to more panic! (rinse and repeat lol).
I did some Q&A at seed banks around here and all of them pretty much suggest both High CBD strains and CBD rich, Very very heavy Indica's or extremely indica hybrids.
Something light CBD rich which relieves most pain for the day but does help me function better when I'm out and about while some serious indica (the "I don't care if I'll ever get out of this chair" and "I don't feel pain, I barely feel anything" kind of indica) for nighttime and near an episode or some mixed with a CBD strain while around the house in general.

I obviously, even in CBD strains, rather have a mostly indica hybrid which was adviced as well.
I have been doing a lot of research already but I really reached the point where I'm asking myself "What am I going to plant this spring?".

I can (unfortunately) only house 5 plants outdoors, maybe even in a DIY greenhouse made from some pipe and foil (which will house some veggies and stuff as well) but I can't exceed the 5 plant limit because, the more countries and states legalize it, the more they start to scout for plants over here and come up with idiotic rules that actually get you jailtime over here now (go figure for a country that was known for it's high tolerance towards pot!).
I can't do jail, hell I can't even do an amusement park for a day so I'm not even going to risk it :p.
Either way, they're going into the full ground, maybe a pot or some PVC pipe around them to help prevent snails and such but that's about it.

Out of my own research I found several strains that sound good to me but have no actual experience with so I could be totally right or absolutely wrong... :p
The following "look" good to me, my knowledge is however limited by the "standard" coffeeshop weed every dutch teen used to smoke (like White Widow, Northen Lights, Hazes, Jack Herrer etc.) so I've done the best I possibly could.
I'll first start with "Medical" Low THC, High CBD strains and comment:
    Royal Queen Seeds Royal Highness
    Royal Queen Seeds Royal Medic
    Royal Queen Seeds Euphoria
    Royal Queen Seeds Medical Mass
    Royal Queen Seeds Painkiller XL

Barneys Farms CBD Critical Cure (I unfortunately have seen people complain about lots of hermies from Barney's)
    Barneys Farm CBD Blue Shark

    CBD Crew CBD Nordle
    CBD Crew CBD SharkShock
    CBD Critical mass
or their CBD outdoor mix but I found a lot of negative reactions about those along the road like "it doesn't do much, especially not for pain" etc. so I'm not sure...
    Dutch Passion - CBD Kush
    Dinafem = Shark Shock CBD
    Dinafem - Critical Mass CBD
Alphakronik Genes - Stephen Hawking Kush (if I was able to get one seed from this (and actually be lucky to get the right seed since the strain is still fairly unstable with 3 feno's/geno's) or another 20:1 CBD/THC strain but it's extremely hard to find strains like this (~1% THC/ 10%+ CBD) and if you do they cost like 500 bucks for 5 seeds REGULAR seeds or something...  I, unfortunately, know nobody with a motherplant of one of these kind of strains either to be honest so that's gonna be hard, even to get a clone.

    Suggestions are more then welcome!

Personally these CBD like strains would seem best for me as a "daytime smoke" with a CBD painkilling effect along with the THC painkilling effect but with massively downplayed psychoactivity and general intoxication compared to the stronger strains around.

Ofcourse I would still need something highly narcotic, pain numbing with a sleepy time effect (compareable to a Benzo or a strong opiate kind of feeling) for episodes and nighttimes ofcourse but more on that later.
The only real downside I found from CBD plants is that, eventhough some are mostly indica, the CBD father/mother is always sativa which will most likely leave effects of that creeping around in it... methinks ofcourse... no actual experience.

Eventually I'll start blending my own CBD rich strains with THC rich strains in example 1/3 CBD dominant Indica 2/3 Amnesia haze (because I need to get rid of a load of haze haha) or something like 2/3 CBD dominant Indica 1/3 Herijuana or whatever. You get the general idea, I might even start breeding some myself eventually, I'm pretty good with genetics to be totally honest so IF I ever move indoors that might be an option as well hehe.
And don't get me wrong on the CBD strains btw, I know CBD is just one Canabinoid and that there are atleast 80 others we don't even know the medical effects of, let alone the terpenes and other goodies found in the plant material, this is just what I found and I'm totally open for suggestions. I just want some CBD rich strains because they massively downplay the psychoactive part while still doing their thing for sure :).

In my search for normal heavy indica's and just heavy heavy painkillers I found the following.
Please do keep in mind that I've done this purely on internet research, I have little to know experience about the current strains, after 14 years of not touching weed I can pretty much call myself a newbie so I haven't the foggiest if I'm even remotely close to being on the right track.

This is what I found so far.

High THC, CBD rich or Heavy indica strains:

Barneys Farm - Critical Kush (2.1% CBD?)
Barneys Farm -Violator Kush (1.5% CBD?)
Barneys Farm  Vanilla Kush (1.2% CBD?)

    Sensi Seeds - Afghani #1
    Sensi Seeds - Black Domina

Spliff seeds/White Label - Master Kush

    Sannies - Herijuana

    Pyramid Seeds - Anesthesia

Again, suggestions are more then welcome!

I'm absolutely not stuck to this list, I don't know if there are better Normal strains or CBD strains either for what I'm aiming for either. They absolutely do NOT have to be very psychoactive (or at all even), the main goal is that they actually work, that's most important. Fun is secondary.
There are most likely a lot of different strains better suited for me but that's why I'm here, for some advice! :p

Reading up on something like Herijuana it sounds like something I'm looking for though, same goes for Black Domina, but then again, I could be totally wrong lol.
Like I said before, I wouldn't mind to blend CBD strains with normal strains to downplay psychoactivity or to improve medicinal properties either so that's always an option aswell.
I would, however, really like some daytime smokes that have near to no effect next to pain relief and just general relief of pretty much everything that ails me so I can spend some time doing something fun without having to hide massive pain for once.

I also have no idea what kind of seedbank to use either. I checked out seedfinder who list a couple of seedbanks which currently have the cheapest prices and sell seeds per 1 instead of packs of 3 (which is a lot cheaper IMO :p). Pick & Mix for example looked pretty good, they have no germination guarantee but you can't have everything right hehe. Again, suggestions are more then welcome.
I hope someone on here can help me a bit with this, I know absolutely no one that smokes either indica's or CBD strains, just sativa's or mostly sativa hybrids really.

How I have to ingest it doesn't matter to me either, I got a vaporizer but I don't mind making edibles or capsules or what not either. Capsules and edibles might actually be better at first because it'll cause less irritation to my esophagus since most will be digested in my stomach and intestines (the latter happening more often because of the massive amount of proton pump inhibitors I'm taking) and it will be easier on my airways as well, vaporizing does cause some irritation right now which might be a trigger for my bodies panic mode again sooo, I know that much already but that'll eventually pass I hope.

Medically speaking I'm really looking forward to testing strains though. I've read more then enough research to know what does what and that it actually has a lot of medical benefits for my conditions. It will however take a considerable amount of testing with different strains but that doesn't really matter to me. It's the end result that counts :).

Alright, this got a lot longer then I expected it would get. It's closer to a book then a post xD lol.
I hope I did enough research myself and that I'm not "Yet another one with one of those questions" but I'm still a newb if it comes to this so cut me some slack :p.

I hope, at least, that anyone fell asleep out of boredom half way through my story haha.

Thankfully I will have a few people that'll help me grow my first couple of rounds so I will ofcourse have questions then but most of it will be covered by friends :p

Anywho, thanks for reading and I hope someone can help me out :).

  2. Have you checked out Attitude seedbank. They have a huge selection of breeder and can help you research strains and breeders. I have ordered from them over a half dozen times. Some top breeders are Barney's Farm, greenhouse seeds, strain hunters, DNA, Cali Connection, BC Bud depot, humboldt seeds organization, G13, TGA, and many others. It's all come downs to what interest you. I would suggest ordering what either won awards, is a top seller or something you have smoked and works for you. Try as many strains from Coffee shops to see what you like and grow your own. As far as CBD I have heard good thing about SharkShock. Not sure on any others. At 20:1 Stephen Hawkings might be worth a try. Good luck on you selection. Also if you never have grown before I suggest growing easy to grow strains first. Some plant require more attention and work than others. Also learn as much you can about growing prior to germination ting seeds to prevent waiting time and seeds. I suggest ordering grow books by Ed Rothensal and Jorge Cervantes and reading them both cover to cover. Good luck.

I'll add Attitude to my seedbank list then. It's pretty cool that they have a "lowest price guarantee" thingie since I'm usually able to find things cheaper elsewhere but do like shopping at one store haha.
I mainly used seedfinder.eu for price comparison and general strain reviews/info (together with Leafly for just reviews) right now, that's pretty much how I created the list of things I could grow so far.

The main problem with Coffeeshops is that they work with a "Supply and Demand" system, if everybody wants Blueberry this season it'll be in every single shop but if the demand is low you can only find it in smaller shops (if at all) with often a lot lower quality bud.
Next to that you can expect the menu of a really good coffeeshop to have about 16 strains tops, some have evenly balanced menu's with 8 sativa's/sativa hybrids and 8 indica hybrid strains but finding a really narcotic pure-ish Indica is pretty rare since it has less recreational value. Which is totally understandable since the Dutch weed culture is based on recreational use, not on medical use.

This (and the fact that I have little money because I can't work because of my illness) makes testing myself extremely hard and I have to base most of my choices on suggestions and advice of indica heads (of which I know none IRL)/Medical users (of which I know 2 who both breed for ADHD/ADD and pretty much only breed sativas/sativa hybrids IRL)/people online. That pretty much makes my main source of strain suggestions forums and strain review databases.

It pretty much sucks because I'm limited to 5 plants a year right now so that might take me a few years to find the exact right strains for me but that's not really a huge problem for me. Ofcourse it sucks that I most likely won't get it right on the first try but hey, I've been popping pills for 8 years already so what's another 2/3 years :p.
I might eventually be able to place a LED stealth grow somewhere through the winter so that might speed up the picking process a bit but for now, any suggestion is helpful.

The selection I have in mind right now (which changed 15 times already in the last 3 weeks or something so it says absolutely nothing haha) is:

    Royal Queen Seeds Euphoria
Royal Queen Seeds Painkiller XL <- name is really selling it to me, there are little reviews but gotta trust a name at some point even if it's mostly sativa lol
    Dinafem - Critical Mass CBD
    Sannies - Herijuana
    And one spot undecided.
I'd love one of the Stephen Hawkings but it's like 100 euro's for a 5 pack with 3 possible pheno's of which 1) 20:1 2) 5:1 3) High THC "High CBD" (so I'd say 4% CBD or something, maybe up to 9 or so but with atleast 20ish% THC, according to statistics ofcourse). So it's a pricey buy and, if I'm really unlucky (which I usually am) a 5 year plan to actually GET a 20:1 motherplant lol.

So I'm going for a 3:2 or 4:1 High CBD plant:High THC Indica ratio I think..

Like I said, I'm mainly looking for suggestions from people who medically use for heavy pain (or similar medical issues) and such as well so I can narrow it down a bit but that's why my list keeps changing.

It is indeed my first time grow but I seriously have NOTHING else to do all day. I've read and own the books by the authors you suggested already plus some 20 other grow books I read a 100 times already hehe. I've been doing grow research for a little over a year now, I'm actually at the point where I'm relearning genetics (just because it's fun) already so theory wise I'm fully prepared.
2 of my friends (both indoor and outdoor growers with roughly 10-15 years experience each) are going to help me from start to finish, one of them I comes over on a daily base (or once every 2 days or so) and the other I see a couple times a week. A friend of my dad (35 year+ experienced indoor grower) is going to help out as well so that's a huge help and I love them for it, especially because they don't want a dime for it and don't want any indica nor CBD weed so that's pretty epic of them :).

I'll ofcourse have forum questions as well because you might as well show a problem to a 100 experienced people instead of just 3 and see what everybody else thinks but still, I think even my first grow will be pretty succesful because of all the help I'm getting (not counting failure due too horrible weather ofcourse!).

Thanks for your suggestions :). Any others and/or strain suggestions are highly appreciated.
