  1. Its an amazing experience :)

When we went they took us to the isolation chamber. Not sure how many of you believe in the spiritual world but i most certainly do.

They asked who would go inside. Of the group of 30 nobody would, so i volunteered.

They closed the door. It was a concrete cell with a massive steel door. When they sealed me in it was pitch black, cold, musty, humid. For about 5 minutes i stood in there feeling the walls. A tiny drain hole was in the floor as a bathoom, the way it is in some asian countries.

Im a very spiritual person and i definitely felt a lot of unique emotions fill me as i walked the halls of alcatraz.

Later we made a trip to the los angelas museum. They had a titanic exhibit. When the guard turned his head to flirt i jumped over the barrier and touched the titanic, the 30 foot section they pulled from the ocean after nearly 100 years. Two things i crossed off my bucket list.

Years later i sat in a college class and my professor was bragging about how he paid 40k to take a trip in a sub. He turned to the class and said maybe someday when youre as wealthy as i am you can say youve touched the titanic with a robotic arm as well. Who here can say theyve done that???? He asked with a wry smile.

As a sort of stab at his holier than thou attitude i raised my hand.

Youve touched the titanic he asked, his eye cocked up.

Yes, i did, with my hand, and i didnt pay a thing, i exclaimed. He deflated instantly. I felt bad but he was basically putting everyone down.

A couple years later my wife and i watched the news and saw that 30 foot piece of the hull going down the street, behind bullet proof glass, with police escorts. People lined the streets to see it.

Whys there bullet proof glass around it daddy?, asked my son

Its there because of daddy I replied, and my wife and i chuckled.

When opportunity presents i never hesitate. Ever.

Hows that for derailing a thread? Haha, sorry mr pharmer :smoke:

  2. Thanks for the detailed response pharmer :) knew I could count on you :metal: :)

  3. I wont detail it much further. Ill make my response fast.

Im very spiritual, definitely something I need to do.

You've inspired me. I hesitate a lot. I wont be anymore.

A barrel or two of respect has been gained for you. I would be honoured to smoke some trees with you one day..

As I was finishing this.. an old friend dropped by. If any of you followed my thread (it might of been in Jumpers Jam tbh) you might recognize him (or her).

Shes been with me since almost the beginning.. see her once and a while. Keeping my plants safe!

  4. Yes you could. The when you have the "system" you have even light distribution across the entire area. Pharmer was spot on in his explanation. As for pricing I would talk to AMARE they have some very unique price structures.

  5.
Bro that is seriously too freaking cool! I am the same as JohnDoe, I always have things I want to do then don't because I know its not "allowed". Cant tell you my temptations in the Winchester Mansion!

Dude derail away! This thread has no rails, we are venturing to places uncharted! Your prints are forever a part of history bro! hahaha

No worries man, happy to help. Now to venture over to your thread and get all caught up haha

Dude that's awesome, have a pet spider in the room haha. At my previous house the place was very old, you could see light coming in around the cracks in the floor boards. Anytime it rained really bad I was outside digging ditches and using PeatMoss sandbags to keep my room from flooding haha. Anywho, I used daddy long legs in the dark corners of my room to keep any unwanted flying pests & other spiders out. Thought I was the only one who had live pet security for my grow room (outside of the soil) for a while xD

Speaking of soil tho!! I found a huge brown recluse inside of a bag of PeatMoss I got from HomeDepot one time. Grabbing clumps of Peatmoss and tossing it in a bucket to hydrate and as it hits the bottom he spazzed out and tried running out of the bucket. I just about melted, my body got so hot and I started sweating. All I could think was "damn that was just in my hand!" I use a 1gal pale & gloves now for all my soil moving around hahaha

  6. Wow, you're super lucky haha, the golden goat is a cut I was after but couldnt get a cut from anyone. Ended up spending around 120 dollars for 12 seeds (ten bucks per seed) of a cross to ensure I didnt miss out on the party......

my trip to frisco was a step in my escape plan from abusive family members. I had sent a letter through a teacher at school to other family members to help my escape.

When they slept I went for a midnight run around the city I didnt know. I was only 17 and didnt know where I was running to, I was just fueled by pain. I used the skyline as a guide to get back to the hotel after an hour or so running around the city.

I went for a ride on the trolley the next day. I ended up in the gay pride part of the city.  A few guys checked me out and my family member asked if I was uncomfortable, since Im straight as an arrow. Why would i be uncomfortable? i asked. I took it as a compliment [IMG]

I made the best of the situation and eventually escaped my captivity. I never talked to those family members again and one passed away last year. I never even saw any of the pics of my visit.

I remember stopping by the Mrs. Doubtfire house. Robin Wiliams is in this city I told myself. That was always the draw for me, going to a place where culture is. I love the culture, people playing guitars on pic nic tables.

The time I visited before that I was about 8 years old and we were homeless, so we lived in homeless shelters in frisco. It's been a pretty wild ride, lemme tell you.

Ill most likely take the wife to mexican food tonight. We live in the barrio and she could probably make it better due to her background growing up in a mixed culture, mixed race family. [IMG] But that's not the point. I wish I could fly her to the moon tonight. She really deserves it all. [IMG] Im not even sure what movies are playing, but we'll figure something out [IMG]

Lol, your frisco story was funny. I too have been to the san diego sea world. I almost fell out of one of the rides [IMG] Hahaha, figures huh? LOL

Hey bro, thank you very much. I think the thing that made me start taking opportunities was the death of a loved one. It made me realize how short life is and of all the opportunities I have turned away from over the years. It's a shame, ive been offered things most people wouldnt believe, and I said no for no other reason than fear of the unknown. I realized life has meaning when we give it one, but otherwise, we are simply sitting on a raft going where a river takes us.

I have found fame a few times in my life for various talents. I was always the reason I failed at whatever it was I was trying to achieve, by simply turning my back. I realized I couldnt even go to the store without being recognized at one point, so I went into my house and basically became a hobit, as a sort of F U to destiny.

But when I lost that one person, I decided I would be a yes man like that Jim Carey movie. Just to see what happens.

By simply saying yes to opportunity and being positive and trying to inject positivity into the world rather than negativity, and to hold my tongue rather than say something mean or bad, and to compliment others and to be the change I wanted to see in the world, made all the difference for me.

To be positive is to be a rare human being. Youd be amazed how many people are followers in this world simply looking for a leader to stand behind, or beside, or with.

Someone told me the other day that I owe it to those who love me to be there, to be real, to be fair, to teach skill. Forgive the rhyme.

I think this is enough of a derailment from the science thread that this journal has been so far. But Im always down to break bud with any of my brothers or sisters on this green earth.

Make your memories brother, be the change you want to see, and dont let fear motivate your actions, unless the direction is up.

    Much love my brother,
    ~ poke

  8. pHarmer,

I want to thank you again for all your help. Thanks to everyone else for their input as well! You've sold me. I sent an email to Amare with a request so I'll wait to see which way they recommend I go. I'll let you all know. I'm excited to join the Solar Spec club here. Might have to start a thread even, who knows? Thanks again!

  10. Spiders are wicked little things..like cats..i got bit on my ass by a spider...wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy

  11. pHarmer,

Victor responded to my email overnight in a very detailed manner. Looks like there's at least a SS-600 in my near future. I'll let you know which way I go in the end. I might just buy all six and get it over with if the discount is worthwhile. The SS-600 certainly is priced right.

Got the shock of my life this morning too...my wife was pushing me to go bigger lol! I don't think she realizes just how dangerous that could be! She just got back from a trip to Florida and now I'm wondering if it's really her lol! I convinced her that I can always expand again.

Thanks again to all of you for your help!

  12. Sounds like a keeper! What lights are you running currently?

  13. No worries bro! Can't wait to see what you decide to go with! Either way I am sure you and the wife will be more than happy!

Haha oh mann!! How big is she trying to get you to go now? I've always thought it to be extremely difficult to get good trees in Florida. But I have never been so I couldn't tell ya. Just what came to mind haha, definitely doesn't want to run out of flowers!

  14. Hi JDO! I'm currently running 90w Illuminator UFOs from Prosource LED. I have four in a 4x4 tent, supplemented with a couple 300 watt equivalent cfls. They're about five years old, and work well but it's time to grow a little and upgrade the technology while I'm at it. Those lights have grown a lot of medicine for the $1200 initial investment and they'll go on as veg lights for years probably. I looked at going with more of them, but their technology appears the same now as when I bought. LED has come a long way in that time.

I was an early adopter of LED, but I had quite a bit of previous experience. At the time I was managing a multi state heavy duty parts territory and I've had a lot of mfg trying on LED technology. I'm a believer, and I understand how the technology works. I also know good build quality when I see it, having been a heavy equipment, heavy truck tech (logging industry) and millwright in a former life.
Truck-Lite has an early LED bulb they produced in the mid 90s that had been running continuously for over ten years when I saw it ten years ago now. I wouldn't be surprised if it's still going. I was selling tail lights for almost $100 apiece but guys were buying them because they withstood the abuse much better than any bulb ever could. Lighting is a huge cost in the mobile equipment industry. The smart managers who understood ROI were all over it, even at those prices. These are the guys that know their cost per mile for everything. FWIW I always preferred Grote products over Truck-Lite for various reasons. Connector design and company atmosphere mostly. Great family run business!
Over the last several years I've studied plants and their needs, including lighting, and there's just no way you could get me to buy a HID setup. The question always is which LED to buy! Right now I would say Amare has the right combination.

    LED FTW!

  15. You know what's really funny is that she doesn't even indulge. This is my medicine, and she totally sees it that way. Shit, I just got her to start drinking good beer about a year ago instead of the horse piss she always liked before. Allagash Brewing FTW!

The whole reason for this is so I can produce enough to have a steady supply even when plants don't always cooperate. I have some sort of neurological inflammatory disease that the docs can't quite figure out so I'm going to try to knock it out with a form of RSO. I need more than what I'm currently producing to do that. My brother also suffers from what we believe to be the same thing and I supply him as well. All legally of course here in Maine. So, there are two of us on this journey.

Her concern is that in a year I'll find I need more space and why not do it now! Why put my body through the added pain of doing it twice! She has a point, but I think my plan is sufficient for my needs and I'm trying to be reasonably frugal at the same time. She's usually the frugal one, so she's just looking out for my best interests. Good woman! That's why we've been married for 35 years.

The way the laws are in Maine I don't personally find it worth the cost and hassle at this point to take on other patients either. You can grow for immediate family or other household members without registering or paying any fees provided they have a license, so I'll stick to that for now. The laws are changing though, so another expansion could be in my future in a year or so.

  16. Thank you bro. I agree, way too far away at times.

  17. Hey pHarmer,

I just paid the invoice for a system600! Woot! Woot!

Took my tents down yesterday also and set my girls up temporarily in my office. Good thing they're still in veg. Probably have them back where they belong next week sometime.

Can't wait to get my new lights! Gonna grow some trees! Probably need to start a journal too I guess.

Thanks again for your help and inspiration! Thanks to all the other Solar Spec users as well!

  18. You guys going to start a SS thread?
