Thinking about going mostly vegetarian

  1. I will eat meat once in awhile but it'll only be the good stuff... I'm mostly doing this for my health, but I do feel bad for machined animals... But unfortunately I was born Homo Sapien  so my opinion is we need food, we are generally more intelligent and therefore matter more.
Just wondering if anyone else has done this and if so what your story was.

  2. and here's a diagram... For no fucking reason

  3. You know that plants can feel pain, right? It's been scientifically proven by a number of interesting studies. Including one where they made a plant stop reacting to being touched by giving it ether. Haha..

Honestly, if you want to go 'mostly' vegetarian, you'll need to stock up on chicken and fish, as those are the two best meats for you.

  4. If you are conscious of your meat but still want to eat it look into Halal.  Also look into Hutterite and Amish colonies that sell their locally naturally raised and slaughtered meat.

I've always been very conscious of the meat I eat and recently this year made the switch to vegetarian.  Best thing I have ever done for my health I have never felt better in my life. Cheers!

  5. I eat mainly seafood but avoid all of the other meats. I agree with the op.
I believe I'd enjoy growing my own plants and giving them life, and then they compensate for your love and time with delicious energy.
I suppose I agree with eating only food treated with the same care you give when raising them.
Plants feeling pain is sort of irrelevant, because that is just the way life is and there is no sugar coating it, but its all about perspective. I like the way japanese like to treat the eel calmly and passively, with respect.
Some may say respect is irrelevant because the animal is dying anyway, again perspective.
Do what you will though, bud. Stay in shape and be true to yoself.

The thing is I need to eat and i'm bigger faster and not necessarily stronger but smarter.... Hate to say it but I speak a language so I feel that plant pain is irrelevant. I believe anything with at least a toddlers cognition.should be given a chance at a fulfilling life. (Almost all mammals fit that bill)
Edit* High as tits so may have sounded retarded
Basically I feel humans are more important therefore take precedence over other animals lives... However I believe we shouldn't do that, but for the time being we have too to survive.

  7. Hey dude,

I guess from my name you might be able to tell I'm vegetarian, lol. I think it's awesome what you're doing, but if it's the thoughts about the way animals are treated and reared you don't have to be a vegi.

I have friends who aren't but take alot of care and effort into picking their meats. e.g. locally reared, organic, etc.

Even vegetarian stuff I have to say at times can even be badly made and pumped full of all sorts of stuff. Stuff sometimes even labelled as vegetarian can sometimes not be.

If you do go down the vegi route, there's LOADS of alternatives for stuff now. Not the cheapest, but if it's available as a meat product, there should be a vegi alternative.

  8. Well if you're looking to change your diet for health reasons, you don't have to go vegetarian. I mean you totally can. I'm not trying to talk you out of it either. But if your health is what's concerning you, I'd put elimination meat on a much lower rung of what you should be focusing on.

First of all, quality counts. Get meat that isn't garbage. You want small time ranch raised meat. The way the big time produces feed, store, and the sort of medical care they give them, it's not a pretty picture. All that has an impact on the quality of the end product. Humanely raised meet that's free of poor feed, bad living conditions, and antibiotic abuse is best. But meat isn't the end game of this picture either. I mean anything  you eat, you want to be good quality. Any produce with a thin skin and exposed parts that are consumed, you want organic because you don't want to load up on pesticides. And you don't want it shipped from the other side of the world. You don't want it farmed under poor conditions. This sort of produce isn't nutritionally high quality. Vitamins degrade.

Next, cut out the crap. Anything processed should make up a very small portion of your diet as possible. And refined sugars have to go. But these sugars are sneaky. Carbs are sugar. Now not all carbs are bad for you. Veggies you want. Fruits are good too (just not in such a high dose as veggies). It's the processed grains you really want to avoid. Try and cut out breads, baked goods, things like that. Even the whole grain variety you want to keep to a minimum. And that's the real big one here. You cut down on your added sugars, refined grains, anything processed really, and it'll do wonders for your health.

See that's exactly what I was going for... Couldn't have said it better
Also I don't like the "(Le Murder Efficiency)x(Current Market)=TehProfitz)" side of mass produced meat... And the pesticides they use are so dangerous on land and people
So basically I just want to cut down my meat intake and eat better quality items in general.
*Also not eat horridly treated live stock and sickly produce

  10. That's what I've been aiming for. Sadly I still haven't gotten there. Sugar's going to be a hard one!

  11. Any other tips

  12. I've been mostly vegetarian for over a year. The only time I eat meat is when I'm invited to someone's house and the main meal is meat or I'm eating out with a group and we go someplace with no feasible vegetarian options. Honestly don't know how you would be able to go full meatless in those situations. I've caught so much flak from old people though over even eating very little meat. Its fucking weird. They got pissed and tried putting meat on my plate a few times. The South loves sticking soggy meat in vegetable dishes too. Tired of that shit. Haha

I'll stick with my NY pizza
