The Wake N Bake usage of Cannabis and its impact on legalization

Discussion in 'Marijuana Legalization' started by Harren, Dec 15, 2014.

  1. Now don't get me wrong I'm not trying to tell people what they should or should not do but this is only my personal opinion so far

I've tried "wake n bake" last week and I thought it was nothing but an excuse to smoothly transition to becoming a pothead (which is not necessarily a bad thing, but it isn't in the best interest for everyone) this is of course not meant for people who use it medicinally, but people who do it recreationally who as far as I understand bake before going to work or outdoors during the day

I think if we want to speed up legalization of weed we should not support this type of use of cannnabis because we're living in a puritan society where we don't view anything favorably if it doesn't help us become productive citizens, its the heart of the capitalist system we live in. I think the more people see this "wake n bake" phenomena the more reefer madness stigma is going to perpetuate

The accepted use of mind altering substances by society is nighttime intoxication like parties/nightclubs/bars.etc because we think it doesn't interfere with the flow of society

I do believe that it is possible to use cannabis responsibly but I just think this phenomena sends the wrong message as I've seen people high in public before and let us not pretend that it is viewed favorably

Let's make weed seem like any other drug, where we advocate using it for certain social envioronments (even thought it may not be a social drug) but it would make a lot more sense if we present cannabis like other socially accepted drugs instead of trying to show the people opposed to cannabis that it is a miracle drug because whether it has medicinal value or not is clearly not the issue that is stopping cannabis from becoming legal. I'm aware of the many factors that is holding against the legalization of marijuana but people in general are opposed to it because of the stigma associated to it, and without their support nothing would happen

Just my two cents guys and I would love to get corrected if you disagree

  2. there are many that need cannabis to get out of bed every day. without it would mean a world of hurt and not getting out of bed that day. wake and bake is a mantra for them though it is not all about baking as much as waking.

We don't need to make cannabis seem like any other drug or medicine because it isn't. Who cares what someone who uses it everyday and consistently, medically, is labeled. We've been making strong headway towards legalization and we got there by not allowing cannabis to be lumped in with pharma/recreational drugs.

  4. yeah man, its more of the toolbags like you who give marijuana a bad name...

you treat it like a substance , we treat it like nature.

if marijuana cant be legalized without having to treat it like you can only use it if you absolutely HAVE to and only if your using it medicinally....

To be honest people like you should just stick to their scripts and shut their mouths about the whole thing unless your looking to respect the plant.

if you cant use MJ for whatever you please, then it is time for a wake up call of all of the stoners and non-stoners to come together and take control of their own lives instead of having it played out for them and having been told what they can and cant enjoy...

  5. I do agree that healthy people lit up all day is not the most productive for society. people who use cannabis for fun tend to do so after all things are taken care of( life work)  and they can sit back and enjoy the experience. using cannabis during the mist of a chaotic day can help to deal with the day but can also hinder, best to balance escapism with be here nowism and deal with your stuff. turning to anything to help cope will always lead one to feel inadequate in their abilities but using consciously and respectively is key.

  6. So wake and bake is the only thing holding legalization back?

Damn, I thought it had to do with the loss of money for big pharma, tobacco, alcohol, and textile businesses.

  7. Being too politically correct is holding the movement back, if anything...

  8. I wake and bake, work my ass off, and pay my taxes.

Anyone that has a problem with that can fuck off.
