Can you leave your vaporizer on without wasting herb?

OK so I used to date this guy a few years back who had a vaporizer.  If I remember correctly we would just leave it on and take hits every now and then.  I feel like we left it on for at least an hour at a time, if not longer.

But I'm wondering if this is safe to do or if you would end up wasting herb since it would be staying hot?

I just ordered an Arizer Extreme Q so that's why I'm curious.

  2. How much is wasted depends on what kind of vaporizer is being used.

Always on conduction based vapes will waste your herb if left on..........big time.
Always on convection based vapes will not waste your herb if left on.
Hybrids will waste some if left on.

  3. Any idea which one an Arizer Extreme Q would be?

  4. I have a Buddha that I will leave on all day when I'm in town, i just don't leave the whip in it.

  5. One of the best parts of vape vs smoke is you can stop and return later with minimal waste.
Smoke has a burning tip, consuming without provocation. Vape, if the goods are not boiling then less waste.

  6. If its a convection type vape, then no, it doesn't waaste weed cos it only heats up when you suck the warm air through from the vape.

  7. Thanks everyone for the replies!  I'm so excited for my vaporizer to arrive- I'm thinking it will be tomorrow but for sure by Wednesday. :)

  8. What one did you get? The Arizer Extreme Q

Yes and it is lovely.  :)  I only ran into a couple minor problems-

For one, the screen was really hard to get in the bowl.  It came already put in there- but as I turned the heat on to clean out the machine- it popped itself out of place.  So I spent forever trying to get it pressed down in there in a way so it wouldn't tip over and knock out my herbs.  I finally got it in there okay and didn't have any issues while smoking.  I may try cutting it down slightly?

The other "problem" may or may not be a problem.  I'm not sure.  When I set down the whip in between vapes- I saw a slight amount of vapor coming out of the whip constantly.  I wasn't sure if I was wasting herb this way?  It made me nervous and when I could I kept my thumb over the whip but I didn't want to do it all night so I didn't.  I thought about taking the bowl out in between vapes but I feel like I shouldn't have to do that.  I also read in the manual you're supposed to let the bowl cool down slowly as the temperature of the vaporizer goes down- and not just remove it abruptly.  But because of the escaping vapor I didn't smoke the bowl as slowly as I would have liked, even though I still thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience.

Thanks!  I'll have to read through that page.  I had mine set to 200 C last night and had a grand ole time. ;)

Also you may want to read my last post that I posted just a minute ago- you may be able to answer some of my questions!

  11. Would this work with arizer solo or air?

The screen doesn't have to be jammed flush in there like say a pipe bowl. Personally I have mine snugly angled with one side on the ridge and the other slightly above said ridge.

Read this page and learn to embrace elbow packing (there is a section about it in said link) bigger thicker rips.

The vaporpedia guides are important to read for maximum enjoyment of your EQ.

Also get yourself a camelbak bite valve as it makes a perfect stopper for the bag and whip mouthpieces you can find them online, outdoors stores(hiking biking fishing places). Using this will allow you to put the whip or bag down between pulls without losing vapor. But don't leave the bag down too long as the vapor will go a bit stale (I also only fill bags half way so I can clear them quicker and fill again.

    Hope that helps
