Weed wasnt cured long, soft like bread, bad?

  1. So my guy got some stuff in and he always has the dankest bud from Miami, every time I go it's selections and really high quality bud. So I get a quarter and I notice the smell is faint and the the bud almost feels like bread, very soft and flexible, even the branches. He was telling me how it's local grown and the guy didn't let it cure that long, it still looked dank like every other time and he said it won't affect the smoke so I got it and we smoked a blunt, smoked pretty nice but I was wondering is this bad? I mean would it have been a lot stronger and more dank if it had been cured longer? ImageUploadedByGrasscity Forum1418481351.827157.jpg ImageUploadedByGrasscity Forum1418481374.496349.jpg

  2. Probably. You can stick it in a jar and cure it up for yourself.

  3. I have my jar sitting in my back porch where the sunlight can hit it, I don't know if this will actually do anything tho haha. ImageUploadedByGrasscity Forum1418481761.511227.jpg

Could be wrong, but I think direct sunlight is pretty high on the list of things NOT to do when curing.  :p Get it in an airtight jar and keep it dark.

Haha good thing you told me that, I recently purchased that smell proof jar and I noticed my bud became dry over the week which was pretty cool. So how come one time I put all my bud in a mason jar and it grew mold but this one cures it?

  6. Keep it in a dark cool place. The sunlight degrades it. Also get 62% boveda humidity packs to keep the jar at the ideal humidity.

From what I remember last night it was still good and I'm going to smoke a bowl now to and feel it out to make sure. I think it's more of a mind thing hah, now that I know it wasn't cured fully I'm entertaining the idea that I should've waited for his next batch yada yada haha. But would it have been a noticeable difference had it cured fully? I mean should I wait a few days to smoke it while it's in the jar?

  8. You won't notice a difference immediately. But when i get bud, it always gets better over time when stored properly. If it is your only supply just smoke it maybe save a small nug. But if you multiple strains to choose from and a decent amount then store it for a little bit and it will probably start smelling and smoking better.

  9. I dont think it really makes a difference if its grown and dried right...sounds like an excuse for his weak buds

  10. I agree that just by properly storing your bud in an airtight jar should atleast make it a better smoke, although you do have to burp the jar

I some times get dispensary bud and its not all that up to par on smell and taste but just sitting in my stash jar it seems to cure a bit better it even dries up a bit more

However my jar does stay almost exclusively in my car in a dark place so im sure temperature fluctuates pretty drastically, but im smokin and not goin for long time storage so it works out

Smoking it as we speak. Smokes really nicely :).

  12. Thanks guys, I usually buy a quarter every week and a half. So it'll last me and be able to dry over the week :). I coincidentally always keep my jar under my couch in my room so it's always in a dark and the temp is room temperature.

  13. And thanks for the boveda suggestion! I'm going to grab a pack.

  14. I got like 10 from amazon. Just replace them every few months. Or get a humidity detector and once the humidity strays change it

  15. I think that if op isnt liking the "fluffiness" he should hold off on humidity packs as that fluffiness is due to moisture already in the bud

If anything use humidity control if you ever get really dry bud like to the point of turning to dust

    Just my opinion

  16. Let them dry some more then throw the packs in. But the premise behind the pack is to adjust the moisture in the jar so i imagine it will aid in moist bud as well as dry.

  17.
If it grew mold, it wasn't dried properly. There's drying, and there's curing. I'm not the most knowledgeable on this stuff, but with drying the goal is to evenly remove all the moisture after the plant is killed. Buds will be a harsh to smoke at this point. So, you cure them. That's when they go in airtight jars, and the nugs will gradually become less harsh, better tasting, and more potent.

So mold probably means it wasn't dried well or cured too soon.

  18. I'm going to leave it in my stash spot in my room at room temp and burp it for a few minutes everyday. :)

  19. Sounds like a solid plan dude!

  20. the sunlight may create mold and lessen the THC value. Put it in a cool dark place like your clo0set or a dresser drawer
