Why is my seedling bent, with a grey stem?

    Hi everyone,

Found an old seed about a week or two ago, and literally slapped it into a pot with some multi purpose soil. I've watered it lightly about twice and the soil is nicely moist. Much to my suprise, a seedling has actually sprung up, even though it has jugs been growing on my windowsill in this sh*tty English weather indoors.

As you can see from the image, the seedling is growing bent, then back up, and also has a little grey/purple streak or mark on its stem. It originally didn't get rid of the seed as I must of planted it too high up, but I carefully removed it and it's just sitting there again.

Just an experiment really, not exactly trying to grow anything serious here.

So, any advice as to why it's bent, and what the grey streak is?

    Thanks

What kind and size of light do you have it under?

  3. You over watered it and it is rotting.

sometimes they pop up crooked at 1st and everything looks green in the pic I see. It does look wet but where are you getting rot at if you don't mind me asking? Maybe the pic I see isn't clear enough

  5. Usually when they bend at a young age it is due to rot.  If it is growing that way, that is another story.  If it is "bent", I would say the stem is rotting.

  6. Give it some time if its rot you'll see some deterioration. If its just the way its breaking ground it will start growing towards the light. You'll probably see change 1 way or the other in the next day or 2. Too early and not a good enough or close enough pic, too tell imo. Be patient and good luck man

  7. No lights man, just sunlight

  8. hit the absolute beginners section. the guides will give you the 90% solution.

  9. Give her some time. If a seedling stands up then falls over early in life, it is probably a condition known as "damping off" which is caused by anaerobic fungi. This happens when your medium is too moist or your humidity is too high. Either way, too much moisture is probably the issue.

  10. Just at the tip of the stem mate

  11. Your soil is too wet, and British sunlight isn't bright enough at this time of year. If you want to keep it growing you will need to put a light on it. A regular CFL bulb will be fine for now, (minimum 20watts).

But if you want this to grow then you will have to at some point put an enclosed space together. You can get small tents for 20 bucks including delivery. If you set up a proper grow then you may as well chuck this plant and start a seed of a strain you like. 3 months is a huge investment on a seed that you know nothing about
