bigger buds

Discussion in 'Advanced Growing Techniques' started by Deleted member 832592, Dec 10, 2014.

  1. ive been growing for twenty years.the last three seriously.
i have two 400 w hps lights from htgs.
my soil is a mixture of rabbit poo ,peat moss, perlite, lime, dirt, woodash
i have had great success reusing my soil.i flush it to remove salts.add more rabbit poo and lime and wood ash each new grow.
i get good production but not great.pure blueberry ,top colas are about 1 1/2 inch diameter 10 inch long buds.in 11 inch diameter pots.plants end up 4 1/2 feet tall at harvest.

my question is can my buds be bigger than this? would maple syrup help my plants grow bigger buds?
i feel like i should be getting better thicker buds, from all the stuff i see on the net and such.the smell and resin production seems fine though.

  2. Sounds like you need more lights and a bloom booster.

  3. Genetics...

  4. I would hope after 20yrs of growing that we don't need to mention that to him.  I agree.  Genetics are the first and foremost key to a solid harvest.

  5. ahh come on guys, pure blueberry is not good genetics?
    nine plants per light.
some kinda bloombooster is what im thinking.ive never used them but wanted to see what the pros thought.
blackstrap molasses with some epsom salt is what im thinking of trying.

  6. I figured you had the genetics covered.  I use the Blue Planet high yield organic feeding system for my girls and they love it.  If you feel like trying something, try that.  It's organic and not too much money.

  7. What kind of yield are you currently getting per plant?

    1. 1000w lights.
    2.  Pro mix, so much work what you're doing it sounds like.
    3.  WAY bigger pots.  at least 5 gals, I like 10's personally.

  8. i dont support that theory.
bigger lights means more heat and higher mounting to cover larger area.with bigger pots, larger area,so it defeats the purpose.
now a thousand watts on nine 11" pots may increase yield but then my electric bill would triple.plus i would need co2 ,ventilation.
sure it may be more profitable but it also raises red flags.im going to consider some nute options and see what that does.ive seen bigger buds under only 400.
i go by dimension of final cola at harvest before drying as weight varies depending on breed and growing conditions.imho

I'm a noob but what kind of plant training do you do? I fimmed a plant and it had bigger cola's then her sisters.

Head on over to the Organic forum - and take a look at the no-till thread -> http://forum.grasscity.com/organic-growing/1299862-no-till-gardening.html

Your soil base sounds pretty good, and reusing it is great. Instead of going to bloom boosters or pumping magensium into your soil with epsom salts, I'd say take a look at the diversity in your soil - worm castings and/or good homemade compost and rock dust etc and try and get your soil performing better.

    Try bigger pots.

Also - look at sprouted seed teas, specifically using brewers malt. Closest thing to plant steroids you'll find.

  11. thankyou or curse you.ive been reading that thread for almost 18 hrs.my head hurts.most true info i have ever got in my life.

You should be getting yields of up to 3 pounds. I suspect lack of vigorous growth due to lack of vital nutrients. Try increasing. Soil just holds your plants in the ground and helps them grow for about a month. After that you must feed for good results. You should be feeding as much as you possibly can.

Pure Blueberry does not ever grow monster buds, dont pump the plants full of crap trying to get more all you will do is make hot soil.

I grow blueberry for personal but it will never be a production crop. Its a treat is all.

  14. I agree with Snoop - I personally don't have any experience with a pure blueberry but it has never been known to be a big yielder. You want big yielder? Try Critical Hog from THSeeds, or The Ultimate from Dutch Passion.

  15. I've gone through 2 runs with a blueberry strain so far. I found the same thing but fuck is it ever tasty  :yummy:

  16. I have a blueberry nug from a year ago stashed. When I harvested it reeked of real blueberry odor. Shockingly real.

I need to get some growing for summer. I have not grown it outdoors.

  17. outdoors is my next step. finding a place is my next challenge.

I just harvested a Blueberry x Headband that came out REALLY nice.  The HB cross gave it some pretty fat colas.  I was just gonna let it go by itself without training (just because), but it decided to top itself and gave me two prime colas.  My shorty loves the BB x HB and the Sensi Star out of all of them for their flavors.  On a side and humorous note, she was calling the Fruit Punch the "Fruit of the Living Dead" and said the Channel + makes her want to "stare at a wall and eat cereal."
