i have this titanium domeless nail from highlyeducated and my friend said to season it so the coating comes off so i dont taste the nasty shit. i torched red hot all over and dunked in water 10 times. i tried taking a dab but the wax just melted, didn't smoke up or anything when inhaled. and it made me so mad because i wasted just about all my wax lol. i tried again just now, torched the nail red red hot and dabbed in the exact spot without letting it cool down and nothing happened. anyone know why?... ill post a pic of the nail if you want, the outside of the rim is dark grey, the inside where you place the dab is blue/multi colored im assuming from the oxidation. anyway, why isn't it smoking up?
Who the fuck started the rumor about dunking a red hot nail into water is seasoning? For the love of science(south park joke) please stop dunking nails into water. Your problem is you need to season your nail properly. Also let the nail cool a little before trying to dab.
ok, you tell me i need to season it properly but don't tell me how. and the point of that is to get off the coating so you dont get a nasty taste. also i dont have wax to waste on seasoning "properly" if thats what you mean. i let it cool till the glowing red faded a little bit and nothing happened. tried it when it was blasted red hot, tried it cooled down, tried everything. it didn't even smoke up not once, just melted all the shatter lol
don't, rigs clean can't get anything. just trying to figure out why it wont work. and my old nail looks like its corroded, its got what looks to be yellow rust coming off of it. paid $100 for this nail and it literally doesn't do shit lol. where you would place the dab its all blue and shit i guess from torching it. regardless, im so pissed off cause i wasted like .5 (which was all i had) trying to dab thinking maybe i didnt torch it enough or torched it too long etc.
Most of the time when this problem occurs it's because it's too hot. Let it cool down like 10 seconds after getting it red hot.
Purposely didn't explain how to season as we have been over it so many times in this forum. If your low on errl then maybe try reading up on the "seasoning a nail in the oven" thread or the official(its not so official) seasoning thread. I have even heard ppl say jelly will work. Im sure it is a particular type. But please for the love of science stop heating nails and dunking them in water. That will only speed up the oxidation process and shorten your nails life span.

There's no practical reason why a nail should not work? Do you have pics of your set up? It's such a simple design and concept there is no reason it should not work assuming it hot enough. the point of heating it to red at first gets rid of factory chemicals and residue. Seasoning does not remove a coating, it is a coating pretty much. idk why this is so confusing to everybody, and why people still think water and ti mix. As for it not hitting right, dial in your temp, clean out your stem of the nail, use a carb cap, maybe just hit it harder. Goodluck man

i didnt do things on my own, i was told that's how its done that if you dont have spare wax to do it with you torch it and just put it in water. anyway i got it to work. its so fucking weird, i guess i literally had to try one more time. i got it to work, idk how. i didn't torch it as red hot and i increased the cooldown time. maybe that's why it worked i let it cd a little longer
