The rectal feeding was done during the hunger strike at GTMO. I don't know how effective rectal feeding is, during my nursing career I'd never heard of it being used. The nutrients are actually absorbed much higher in the gut than the colon, but the colon is good at absorbing water so it was probably used for hydration which is much more important than food. Or it could have been used for humiliation and to increase feelings of helplessness. Tube feedings in general go into the stomach or small intestine and when done properly hunger isn't an issue. I don't think it would help my cravings from the munchies though, nothing does. Fixed it for you.
