Why are so many acrylic bongs expensive

Discussion in 'Bongs, Dab Rigs, Bubblers, Water Pipes' started by Peterpiper, Dec 9, 2014.

  1. This is a quick question why are some acrylic bongs so expensive every time I'm looking at bongs I'll always see an acrylic bong for like £50 who buys these do these people not now about glass if you look hard enough you can find some pretty good glass bongs for under £30 I always thought acrylic was what u bought when you didn't have much money or your taking it somewhere you expect to lose it. Is there something about acrylic bongs I don't know. Maybe people don't want to spend a lot on glass because they're scared they'll brake it or is there another reason.

  2. I've never seen acrylic ones go for more than 30$ here in the states. I also imagine the people that buy them do so cause they are cheap or won't break. But I've also never known anyone to actually buy one either lol.

  3. people often buy them for dorms were a glass bong is bound to be broken in days but ya 50 bucks is super expensive for one i bet prices are up because of holiday season

  4. Because you only have to buy one and, unless you run over it with a truck, it should last you a lifetime. That's what my theory is. I don't own one myself but, I might just buy one in the future. I own a polycarbonate water pipe that should last me a lifetime. Not meaning to drop any names but, Old School Smoker owns one. Maybe you can ask him how much he likes his. It's red I believe.

i bought an acrylic 6ft bong. always wanted a 6ft for the novelty but glass would be a no go on that for me, waay to scary. so i paid $50 for acrylic instead of a $200+ glass 6ft with a deathwish

  6. OSS knows all lol

  7. that actually makes a lot of sense I remember almost doing the same thing

  8. here in the states they dont go go for more than 25$or so for the most part...might be a different market in your area.

$50? What sites are you on? lol.
I saw an 18 inch for like $20 no joke. Forgot the website though.

  10. I've never seen an acrylic for more than $30 here in Canada

  11. i just bought an acrylic bong the other day in the shop for $40. glass on glass female and dual dome percs. i was gonna go for a steel concept or a subzero but i couldnt pass this up for the price. basically the same thing for all intents and purposes.

  12. I don't see a problem with acrylic. I'm buying one in a few days because it's cheaper, and won't break. I don't need to spend hundreds on a smoking utensil.

It's not peer pressure, it's just your turn.

Acrylic is cheap and functional, but not long lasting. sure, its more durable than glass but after frequent uses, the acrylic starts to hit less smooth and starts to smell like ass. That's why people prefer glass.
Nothings wrong with acrylic, but they're not meant to be your MAIN bong. Usually people buy acrylic so the have something to smoke out of while they wait to get a REAL bong.

  14. I've seen really nice acrylic bongs go for 20 or 30. I'm not a huge fan of metal bowls or bongs with carbs and that's all I've seen in that price range. I considered getting an acrylic one once but I don't think it'd be worth it. But yeah acrylic bongs hit okay. Some people just think its neccesary to smoke shit grown in the Himalayan mountains by Jesus using the finest hydroponics out of an overpriced bong with 17 percolators.

  15. Plastic bongs are herd to clean and taste bad I got a 6 or 7" glass on glass gong for 12$ from my local convenience store. I wanted a smoother hit so I bought a defused downstem for another 10$.

  16. I buy acrylic cause I'm clumsy af and they don't break but I find most under $30

  17. Ok no offense, but I see a British pound sign not an American dollar sign. Thats your problem right there. You are in England and thats why they are so expensive. I can get a nice acrylic bong for $15 across the street from my house.

  18. A gong is a big brass cymbal that sits behind a drum kit. I believe the Adams family used one to summon thier butler, Lurch.

Actually it's blue. And it has a glass bowl. It's glass on acrylic and it has been working fine for me for about 3 years now.

But you are right. I do know all.
