Not an article I wanted to read today...It looks like a deal has been made and they will block the legalization of cannabis in Washington DC even though over 60% of voters voted to Legalize. This country needs to start listening to what the citizens want, I really hate seeing this as it was going to be the closest place to me with Legalization...More fights to come in 2015-2016

    EDIT:

Hopefully this article is correct, looks like I may have spoke too soon: http://news.yahoo.com/congress-may-block-marijuana-legalization-164002836.html

  2. That's a bummer. That was the only bill I supported. I wonder why they don't like it.

Oh yeah. They are not making any money off of it.

  3. There are some republicans trying to block it, but I don't think they will in the end.

error 404 not found for me

  5. I'll bet the Democrats who oppose the rider would support a Presidential Line-item Veto now.

  6. I'm not advocating for anything but in Mexico when they got feed up with government corruption they burned down the legislative buildings. Also while watching the anonymous protest you could see how little control there was over a crowd of about 200 people at the FBI headquarters. I'm not saying people should go out and do things I'm just stating two facts of recent history in one paragraph. I for get who said the people should not fear the govt. The govt should fear the people. If you read your history there are a lot of examples where those in charge found out real fast that there's a lot more of us than there is of them. Also we're getting bent out of shape about pot. fuck that. There are police killing innocent until proven guilty people in the streets in broad day light that don't face a trial of their peers, the bill of rights protects us from unwarranted search and seizure but civil forfeiture brings in billions a year to municipal organizations and a dog barking is enough evidence to invade our privacy. Wtf happened to the country that I love so much I put my life on the line to defend it?

It might not be as bad as initially thought:

So DC gets screwed, but the rest of the country with state MMJ/REC laws will be left alone.  Sucks for the DC residents, but overall a win I think.  Besides, just because the DC law is overturned doesn't mean the mayor, police and prosecutors have to enforce it.

  8. Definitely a couple positives with MMJ and the other current laws, but it is a scary slippery slope when you start going against what the people vote for...especially in a "democracy"

  9.
But we don't live in a democracy.  We live in a representative republic, and unfortunately the residents of DC don't have a representative.

  10.
    This dude just won bingo.

  11. Lol even if dc did have a representative politicians dont give a fuck about repping anyone, that isn't putting money in their pockets.

  12. I thought we lived in a constitutional republic.

  13.
I guess technically that is the correct term.  But keep in mind the structure of everything changed when we began electing Senators directly.  In case some of you didn't know, until 1913 US Senators were appointed by the Governors of each state.

But as this point, we probably ought to shred the Constitution because no one follows it any more.

  14. Starts at the top.

  15. I actually think the bill is gonna pass. The rider only stops new laws from forming, so we won't have any rec shops in the district for a little while but we can still grow and possess. Technically the bill was enacted when we voted 70% yes on it. After it gets transferred in jan and the 30 day review period it automatically becomes law. Ultimately, the only way it won't pass is if Obama veto the bill, which I really don't see happening. and we actually do have a rep here in DC Eleanor Norton, and she's actually been very outspoken about legalization and protecting the rights of dc voters, she just doesn't have a vote.
