  1. I have 2 50w led lights in my closet along with 2 13w cfl lights

Oh yes, you can grow with that. However, make sure that those numbers are the actual wattage (not the equivalent wattage).

  3. Put it next to a window too:) 50 w is pretty small... Regular porch lights are 100w

  4. I got mine to grow with 16w Leds

  5. A plant will kind of grow but come on....get some lights.

you trying to spend two months growing one joint of leaf?

  6. I run led too.. Solarstorm 440.. It's around 400w and I could use more..
Just keep in mind light is life to a plant..

If those are the equivalent watts your going to have some light starved plant. Even if that is actual it would be borderline low. Yeilds going to be terrible for the months that you put into it unless you upgrade right away. What's the actual watts, kelvin, color spectrum? If you know

  8. you can grow weed with a flashlight, but I wouldn't recommend it. get yourself some cfl's if you want to grow that's the cheaper way to go and I seen some impressive grows if it's done right, starting a plant just to starve it is plant abuse, in some countries plant abuse is --well you know what I mean.

  10. lots of people use 23w cfls because there cheap compare to 30w - 40w, get a few of those id say 6 per plant and youll be right on for a descent grow and with those 50 w led if actual youll be set

  12. I did a side by side grow with my led
And a 300w cfl. Same tent.. same clones and nutes.. The cfl came up short in every way but height.. I really had to regulate the light to keep the stretch under wraps.. Led was dense thick and predictable
Cfl was thin tall and would shoot up taller out of the blue without leaf growth..
Flowers on both were good but led had it on weight and quantity by a long ways..

  13. Not the same thing, bud. Not by a long shot.

If your LEDs are "50 watts equivalency", then you have the right idea...but if you do, they're each also rated at about 5 true watts.
I've never seen a grow spot of that low a wattage....are you trying to use LED household bulbs? If so, they help nothing, really.

If they ARE "50 true watts", then their PAR bandwidth production and light intensity (at proper heights) is about the equivalent of half a 250 watt HID, or (between changed footprint and ability to get better penetration) about "300 watts" of CFL...to the individual plant it can hit well.

I think you mis understood me. I was simply saying putting the plant next to the window would be better for light then the light they were using.. And a porch light has more power....
    I use a California light works 440 for my led.. It's just a bit" beyond 50w 😸 just a bit...😸😸
    And I'm not a bud... I am a flower ..aka ...a dame or doll ... 👩👸👙💄👄

  15. Yup, I was misunderstanding.

Illumination LEDs (LED floods) are essentially useless to the plants. ICBs almost as much so (during veg...they are primarily red/IR/heat)

Top left, sunlight spectra, bottom left, Incandescent, right is fluorescent grow light.

Plants use mostly blues (mostly nonexistent in ICBs, as you see) during veg state, though we are finding more and more use of upper greens, too. The LED substitutes, if those are under discussion, aren't "full spectrum", and can't properly be used for grow.

Sunlight through a widow is good...but watch it carefully. I can't remember the full explanation, but glass refracts the light enough that there's more heat from light that's passed through glass than light that hasn't. Whatever the full technical explanation is, the effect has cost me clones in the past.

Good choice on the CLW choice, I've done a couple grows in a small tent built around a CLW Solar Flare 220...though I went HID for my big tent, I still think the SF and SS series are pretty good ones.

I've never read anything about windows and light.hhm I'll look into it just to be nerdy:)
I love to have a plant next to the window and have long before it was legal just because. There is something different, they stretch so much and never really fill out.. I bet different windows have different affects.
I LOVE the CLW 440 and have thought of supplementing with a smaller 220. I just picked up a hydro grow sol 9 and a sol 6 for dirt cheap and will try that out in about a week.. I am excited.
