yeah i was thinking about going for a soilless mix. i just want to pick up essentials for now. the space ill be growing in is VERY small. 3x5 room. so yes, i do plan on cfl lights

  4. Soilless mix is pretty easy, home depot may have a couple options although the selection this time of year is likely suspect at best. Promix if you can get your hands on it.

and I've never used them but I'm sure Home depot has a couple of those multi-bulb cfl outlet things.

  5. awesome, i was able to find pro mix and the lights along with the multi bulb outlets and some pots. :metal:

  6. Start a journal! I am growing literally in homer buckets wrapped with black tape (no light at all shines through with 1000lm flashlight held up to it). Everything I am using has been procured from the depot and lowes. Work lights, splitters, cfls, nuteless mg organic soil, even the fish fertilizer.

  7. Lol. I saw a kid buying the exact same things the other week when I was buying a new air pump from there.

I asked him in the checkout line, "indoor tomatoes, huh?"

The kid blushed up and stammered a bit. So great.

  8. "indoor tomatoes, huh?"
    > "nope, drugs which i hope to consume very soon"

  9. oh, and i was also wanting to know if ill have to go somewhere else for fertilizer/ nutrients or if there might be something there someone can recommend? thanks so much guys, didn't expect replies so quickly or even at all when i made this post haha.

  10. I'd suggest going to a hydro store or a greenhouse for soil/nutrients/medium.

Or you can always get a prepaid Walmart debit card and order off amazon. Both work just fine.

  11. Home depot does carry small Mh/Hps bulbs, like 150 or 250 watts. OSH has a small section of grow supplies like rockwool, propagaters, nutes, and t5 light setups. I bought nutes from OSH. Ha
good luck with your new setup

  12. Me and my friends have the same exact story. We went to a local nurseries and told them we were growing tomatoes. But we smoked on the way there and most likely smelled like it, so they prob knew what was up, haha.

And not to get side tracked. You'll wanna get hardware from Home Depot, that's fine. However, any soil, nutes, or anything like that I recommend getting them from a proper plant place, like a nursery or farm or hydro store and such.

    Bro, do this.

Get a 70 or 100 watt HPS security light and use that to grow. Or go CFLs if that's your thing. They have those too.

Go to the Garden Center, pick up some peat moss, some steer compost, perlite or vermiculite, and some garden lime. Also get some Alaska Fish Fertilizer Grow and Bloom. They have them both and are very nice products.

Get the pH test strips in the garden tools section. They also have all kind of pots/sizes in the same area.

I was in your shoes a few years ago and I still use stuff from HD for my grows. Contrary to popular belief, you can find pretty much everything you need to grow nice weed if you know what to look for.

A little bit of research, planning and ingenuity goes a long way.

failure to plan is planning to fail.  Don't follow the steps of many, if you're going to do this, do it right.

3x5 depending on the height can handle a 400W HPS.  Pretty much somewhere around 8-10CFLS don't make sense anymore, this is where you'll want to consider HPS.  Biggest I've seen is 70W in Home Depot stores, not to say things haven't changed.  MY DYI cool tube for my 400HPS works wonders.

Get good ventilation and understand what you need.  Fresh air from another room or outside.  A fan inside past seedling stage.

In a month you'll need to worry about smell.  I built an easy DIY carbon scrubber (parts from HD, carbon from Walmart).

Stay with growing mediums with no ferts.  Use your own, and grab from a grow shop if possible.  High N in veg, High PK in flower (NPK).

    Have a plan for germination.
