Nutrients in an SoG Grow?

Discussion in 'First Time Marijuana Growers' started by MarijuanaGreen, Dec 7, 2014.

  1. I'm starting my SoG grow soon and I know that in an average/normal grow one would most likely start feeding nutrients to their plants around 3 weeks after seeding. When is the optimal time to introduce nutrients if vegging for 2 weeks then flipping to flower?

  2. If your growing from seed you won't be flipping in 2 weeks. Clones you can but a seed grown plant won't be mature enough to flower for awhile.

  3. As far as nutes go, you wait til after the cotyledon leaves fall off if your growing from seed and start light, 1/2 or 1/4 nutes. That also depends on your soil. If you have soil that has fertilizers in it you might wait longer. Clones start light nutes when they look like they need it, there's not really a set time per say, 2 weeks roughly.

  4. By vegging for two weeks I meant after the seeds have already sprouted. It's also an ideal number/guess. I'm using the sea of green method so I want my plants to grow to about a foot before I go to flower (and I'm hoping this will take two weeks, three at the most), since they can still grow/expand up to another foot or so during flowering.

  5. Thanks. I was planning to start with 1/4 nutes, I'll be using Fox Farm's Ocean Forest soil.

are you growing from seed? Reg or fem? If so it will not be sexually mature enough to flower 2 weeks after sprout, probably not 3 it could be 4-6 or more. Sogs that only veg for 2 weeks are grown with clones not seed.

  7. Yeah I am growing from feminized seed. I've seen peoples sog grows where they start flowering anywhere from 2-4 weeks when starting from seed... I'm pretty sure I've even seen some posts about people flowering w/ a 12/12 light schedule straight from seed and getting decent results. Who knows, maybe I'm confused  :confused_2:

  8. ocean forest has nutes in it. Your good for a month, be careful, it will be easy to over nute

they're growing from clone. Google it. Cannabis plants have to be sexually mature enough to flower. It just depends on the plant as to when that's going to happen. You can't plan it until you grow clones

  10. Google about preflower and sexual maturity. When it starts to preflower you can think about 12/12

  11. Gotcha, thanks for the help.  Question about my soil, instead of Ocean Forest, what if I started with Fox Farm's Happy Frog? That still has nutes so I would still want to wait about a month before supplementing, right? Whatever of the two fox farm's soils I go with, I'll most likely be using their nutrient trio products if that makes any sort of difference. I know next to nothing about nutes besides basic NPK stuff and how to notice deficiencies. Nutes confuse the hell out of me no matter how much research I do since theres so many kinds and different schedules.

Your growing from seed so no matter what wait til the cotyledon leaves drop. Most people freak out when they fall off on their 1st grow. Its actually just part of the process. After they fall off you'll notice your plant to start looking needy, for lack of a better word. You'll know what I'm talking about, then its time for nutes. The cotyledon leaves are the energy for a young plant. That's why it doesn't need much at 1st.

Also as far as sexual maturity goes think of plants like animals and humans, females aren't born sexually mature. Flowering is a sign of sexual maturity. A cannabis plant isn't going to give us all its goodness until its mature

  13. I've had plants in happy frog for over a month with no nutes. It really just depends on the plant and its something you will learn as time goes on. Everyone new is so set to following a schedule. Just learn to follow your plant and it will be so much easier for you
