PC Case Grows - Why Soil?

Discussion in 'Micro Grows' started by jakethebake, Dec 6, 2014.

  1. Seems like everyone uses soil for these small grows. Why is that?

  2. Hydro can be loud

  3. Some more than others. What else?

  4. Its easy to use and not expensive to buy.

  5. Yes, your local hydro or garden store has everything readily available in most cases. Even within soils you have to ask organic or enhanced applications.

The advantages of the enhanced grow is you can buy one day and grow the next. True organics (i understand this to be non-commercial and composting) have to take about 6 weeks or longer for the soil to be ready for use. So by time an organic guy gets going an enhanced grower can be deep into flowering.

The disadvantage of enhanced growing is the user tends to over feed the nutrients. More is NOT better.

Happy Frog Potting Soil with about 30% perlite holds up about 7 weeks for most plants. better to under feed than over feed.

  6. Cause I'm old school like that.

  7. I rock coco with hydro nutes, passive like soil. Growth like hydro, best of both worlds

My nutes are pH perfect and I've never seen them leave 5.9 takes all the guess work out of everything for me

  8. I have always grown in soil. I like it because it's easy to maintain, no noise, no electricity. Pumps can fail, airstones can clog, motors can burn or short out. I don't have to worry about the soil. The biggest thing for me is that with soil, I don't worry about pH as much.

  9. hempy buckets mate. cant get simpler than that.

  10. Thanks for the tip. I've been looking at hempys. They seem like an ideal grow method for me. Next grow I'll be giving them a shot fo sho.
