Washington DC bans pre employment drug testing

Discussion in 'Marijuana News' started by Old School Smoker, Dec 5, 2014.

  1. Fair enough I suppose. I just think it's unfair that they assume everyone on unemployment is a drug addict; I can understand drug testing on welfare - they made the choice to go on and stay on welfare. No one makes the choice to get laid off
Especially when something as innocent as smoking marijuana will cause them to not give you your benefits.

  2. A lot of jobs drug test. How would you pass those drug test if you are getting high. I know it's not right but that is the way it is.
Get a job and buy all the weed you pocket book will allow.

  3. Yeah, not arguing with ya there. Not that hard to stop for a few weeks.
I think I'm more just mad at the system for deeming a completely natural plant illegal.

  4. Agreed.

So, either look for a job that doesn't test or stop smoking. Like I said earlier, employment is an agreement between two entities. Once you sign their little contract, you are subject to whatever terms are within that contract.

And it's not a violation of human rights to be drug tested, cmon. Chill with the hyperbole. They are making you piss in a cup, big freakin deal. It's not like they are strapping you down and sticking a needle inside your bladder to get your urine against your will. Remember, you agree to piss in a cup when you sign their release form.

And fyi, I lived in North Carolina for a long time. So I know exactly how it is to work in a 'right to work' state.

Hello again....I actually have a job and have always had a job since age 12 so this isn`t some biased rant.  Testing a person to see what he or she is involved in on their own time is absolutely a violation of their rights.  But I get what you`re trying to state.  I notice this a lot from people who reside outside of the area of the country in which I was referring because honestly, they have no idea of how things are here.  This area is quite literally stuck in time and it must have happened in the 50`s.  With this fact, the authorities behave as demi-gods and the majority of the public are completely submissive or maybe the word compliant is better suited.  Either way it`s bad.  And please do not even attempt to compare living in Cali to Mississippi,...I mean seriously??!   Alabama is even worse in a few ways.  their drug violation laws are devastating.  think of getting caught with a little grass and serving real time in jail...Nice huh....Truckers are randomly subjected to tests mid trip in Texas.  just imagine, your 50 years old, zero violations, zero accidents and some shaved headed kid makes you urinate in a cup to see what you are doing out of the clear blue sky.  And understand, when living in one of these states where even a guy with long hair still can`t get a job, imagine how many tests he will have to take,...what if he has tattoos???!!  May as well live under a bridge,...and yes,...its really that bad.  As for not "handling" their meds,...well, I would understand that if we were talking about opiates or meth but weed???  At any rate, there are no excuses for violating a persons privacy by forcing them to take a random drug test.  If a person shows obvious signs of intoxication or something of that nature while on the job that is verified by witnesses then yes, of course but randomly just pulling a name out of a hat, NO.   Luckily, with technology there`s always a solution, which is the synthetic urine.  Maybe, just maybe, one day we will actually really live in a FREE country. This sums up my thoughts on the subject.   Although it shows I only have a few posts here Ive been a member since 2009 or there about....  Just been a while

  6. I agree with konundrum on most everything. I understand what ure sayin. But For someone like me, foreman at a cons co, huge responsibilities, never smoke on job or before job, frankly it seems insulting that someone can dictate what i do in my own time, insulting. Perhaps a case by case basis. U test positive, ur history at the company is looked at and then a decision can be made to fire or retain services. Ive heard too many stories about guys ( myself included) being at companys many years, excellent history there, test positive for weed an lose thier jobs. This leaves me scratching my head an does not make any sense in any realm of reality ive known. I get it, theres an agreement, u sign it, u dont have too. But there needs to be a better method to protect responsible smokersl

  7. Employers have way too many rights in this country. The employees, the people that actually build and make the business successful have none and its horse shit.

No, employers have no ethical right to test you for substance use. It is no ones business what you do in your spare time.

What else should they be allowed to test for? Maybe they should also test for dairy since it can make you sluggish. Or maybe they should check for seminal fluid on everyone's genitals, because if you've been having sex that's all you will think about and be too distracted.

Stop supporting these nosey, tyrannical nanny state policies.

I posted this on another thread but it was old so putting it here too. I was tired of the weak 1 or 2 job answers to the quesiton: what jobs don't drug test?

Passing a urine test for a stoner is as easy as laying off for a couple weeks and drinking lots of water and cranberry juice to flush your system... If you're looking for a good paying career type job I reccomend flushing your system for nearly a month if you are a hard toker. I am 6 foot / 160 lbs. and smoke pretty hard every day (4-5 bowls at least). Without even trying to drink lots of water or flush I am able to piss clean after only A WEEK AND A HALF of not smoking. So don't listen to the fools that say it stays in your system for months... Maybe if you do edibles all the time, but I wouldn't know about that.

Also you can use synthetic urine, based on much online research of other's reviews QuickFix sythetic urine works. Quick Fix 6.1 is the newest version and is available at www.quickfixsynthetic.com There are a few people who said they used this and it failed, but I bet anything it was due to the temp being off. A couple people have said they failed because it has no odor, but this has to be BS because they cannot reject a sample based on a sniff test. The vast majority of reviews passed with flying colors, even with older/almost expired versions. Go with 6.1 for sure though because it has uric acid already mixed in and they check for that shit. The few reviews I could find on 6.1 all said they passed. I bought a 3oz 6.1 Quick Fix for myself in case I don't have enough time to stop for a while before a test... But I have yet to try it and would only risk it on a job that I wouldn't be crushed not getting, or if I knew I didn't want to work there for long anyway. The other option is someone elses clean pee. JUST MAKE SURE WHATEVER YOU USE THAT IT'S BETWEEN 95-98 degrees when you put it in the cup!!!

:hello: ANYWAY, HERE IS THE NEW 2015 REAL LIST OF JOBS THAT DON'T DRUG TEST (in most areas)

:metal: Hope this helps you fellow stoners look for some quick work without sacrificing your privacy!

I'll add more as I find them. I applied at Michaels Arts & Crafts, Wendy's, PetCo, and Whole Foods. WISH ME LUCK. I also applied at Game Stop but they will DT me if they call... That would be my chance to try out Quick Fix though, and if it is somewhat easy to get the temp right and passes I am going to get the super-size pack that comes with like 10 bottles because some places do randoms (I heard Game Stop does randoms every month).

It's funny that I've been piss tested to stock shelves at night at Walmart, but could have been high on coke, heroine, ecstacy, or anything when I applied to be a school janitor... Same goes for teachers, no test. So we don't mind if hardcore druggies that can't get clean for a day teach our kids at school, but we deffinetly don't want anyone who has smoked weed recently touching our dry and frozen goods at Walmart. And for some reason showering us in cigs, booze, and pills is okay. WOW. LEGALIZE BUD ALREADY USA!!!! :smoking: :bongin: Toke on.

  9. So let me get this straight...

You can't be denied a job offer for marijuana showing up on a drug test, but you can get the job and your employer can drug test you the first day and you can get fired?
