Just a little update. Dropped 4 pdps. Culled 1 male just now. 2 of the other 3 might be males as well. Still a bit early to tell. The only female happens to be the runt but is throwing out massive pistils from the 7th node onwArd

  2. beer with balls at only 4%abv, who the hell....

Anyhow, on the SG gear side of things, I officially placed 13 MCD seeds into soil after letting them soak for a little more than 2 days. I think after I see them take hold I might let them hang out in the HID cab for a while, speed up the veg process so I can toss a few into half gallons and run them in the small LED flower cab, might even try to scrog in there, or just a simple SOG.

Master, my male PDP P2 that I placed in a cup still hasn't shown any pollen burst anywhere, and many of the sacks are falling off very easy.... Do I need a little light to get this thing to throw some pollen? I've kept it in complete darkness for a little over a week now

  3. Sup fellow minions! Hope everyone is having a very dark day

  4. Never have I heard of total darkness to promote pollen production.
I guess we all need to experiment.
Was this a cutting? Or just a top in water?
    .
I've seen 2 males in my time that were sterile, and did exactly as you said.
Never any pollen from open pods, unopened pods just fell off eventually.

  5. just the top cut off and placed in water. I'll have to fashion myself a place to get a little light on him. Does it have to be 12/12 or can it be veg timing?

  6. First you must understand the basic needs of a cutting and of flowering plants.
Root growth slows dramatically when a plant flowers, as the plant sends the majority of it's energy(both sun and stored energy) to it's flowers.
A cutting, once cut is technically dead.
To create new roots or to even continue the flower takes some light and energy
So IMO, the cut died from being taken in flower, Not because it's a sterile male.

  7. SG I have a bunch of seeds I've been storing. They are wrapped up to keep the light out and are in a cupboard. My house doesn't normally get too hot but I'm sure there were some days when we were out of town with the ac off and it hit 100 due to Cali summers. I've had most for about 4 months however some are a little over a year old. I have 3 questions.

    1. how do you store seeds long term?

(I'm thinking of using a container with desiccant satchels dipped in wax then placed in fridge.)

    2. Can I move the seeds previously stored in cupboard with this method or will the change harm them

    3. If i do use this method, can each strain be bagged individually inside of the container?

Thx in advance , I'm sure I'm over thinking it but with my breeding project underway hopefully I have a bunch of seeds that are special to me. Also don't want to lose the genetics I have ready to pop.

  8. Seeds are like children, they're yours and are special.
We all start with simple small breedings, then the addiction comes [IMG]
    .
    Good question though.
Room temperature is not conducive to long term storage, I kinda learned the hard way with seed failure.
The method I'm using now still needs to be proved, but may take a few years to prove.
    Here's what I'm doing now.
I store seed in a black lockbox in my fridge, not sure the temp but is just above freezing, guessing 34F or 1C.
I have them in individual bags, put inside a heavy freezer bag.
Inside the bag I keep 8-10 cardboard strips for humidity control.
I have extra strips at the ready for when I plan to open the bag to add more seed to it.
I prepare the opening of the bag by having the extra strips already warmed over the toaster on low settings to flash dry them.
As soon as I add my new stock, I replace the strips quickly (so the bag doesn't get condensate inside).
    Repeat every time.
    .
In my studies, I found one thing, the seed goes bad from dormant fungi that populate the bag.
Once you plant them and add water, the fungi grows quicker than the seed, killing it.
Old age of the seed makes the fungi able to out compete the seed.

  9. Perfect bud thx! Feel like an asshole, I think I seen you post something similar a while back however this helps enormously!

  10. Morning mee Lord and Dark dwellers have and marvelous and dark day off to place that pays

Give a man a joint he can smoke today. Give a man a seed he can change his life

  11. Love the pictures of that girl and buds marvelous

  12. SG, those are some amazing pictures of some of your previous grows. You are the man, man. Keep em coming, loving the bud porn!

  13. apparently I just let that stuff fly through my head without thinking.

The cutting is still well alive, and I actually have a rooted cutting off the same male to continue and try again with if I can't get pollen off the top in water.

I went through the memory of sexing a plant by taking a cutting, tossing it under 12/12 in a cup of water and watch it for a couple weeks - it works but I kind of forgot the light part with the male lol. I was just so paranoid about loose pollen that my dark garage cupboard felt better equipped for isolation, didn't think about the maturing sacks.

Good thing I kept a backup plan. The male rooted much better than my female pdp cuts, that's for sure.... Only one surviving and struggling to get on its feet currently

  14. GOOD MORNING Minions
    What a happy looking bunch

  16. If your get on this thread, or any thread, you can use the search function.
While on a thread, the search will find posts for this individual thread.
Key words will bring up posts for you.
Words like Transplanting or TP, deleafing, soils, etc.
I use it all the time when asked a question, just open a new window, find my post, copy and paste.
    Saves me time..
    .
I encourage folks that are searching out info to put it on a post, bump it up.
Repetition makes experts, and you really can't hear too much about solid techniques.

  17. I see you have a 300w Mars led. What the watts on the other one. I never used my 300w for flowering how does that work for you

Give a man a joint he can smoke today. Give a man a seed he can change his life

  18. Time for a project update.I've got 3 Nookies just starting to flower, #3, the shortest has my eye.

Let's look at the Jhin Raja now.
Afgooey x GDP - with phenos like Goblin Girl and Nocturnal #6 in Afgooey's resume, excitement is an understatement.

This seed fell into soil when I flowered the seeded GQ#6, a volunteer.
Not a mutation on her, good sign I think
