Okay well first of all On average how long do normal glass nails last? I ordered an oil rig and it comes with a glass nail and dome and everybody says they don't last long at all so I'm probably gonna order a ti one, but if I dab on average once a day how long should it last? Second question: when the rig with the glass nail comes in I'm obviously going to dab but how long should I hold the torch on the glass? does glass get red when it's hot and should I stop when it gets red? Or what I have no clue when I should stop torching it. Thanks
Its more about if you get the glass too hot too fast. Just slowly heat it up until you see bits of red glowing then let it cool down a sec. Should last a while if you take decent care of it.
I still have my first glass nail. Its all about how you heat it up and care for it. If you wanna see what not to do, and what happens to glass nails that aren't heated up properly, take a big marble, and blast a torch right in the middle. Not really, it'll blow up and you'll get fragments in your eye and buried in your skin. I tried glassblowing with a marble once as a kid. Once. I learned the hard way to heat glass slowly. The same goes for your nail, start torching it with the flame a couple inches away, and bring it in slowly. Torch it until it gets evenly red, let it cool until its completely back to appearing like normal glass, and drop your dab on. All nails retain heat differently, if the oil splatters its too hot, if theres oil left after its to cool.
