My edible tolerance is shot after only 3 weeks

Discussion in 'Weed Edibles' started by Ulysses61, Nov 27, 2014.

  1. Here is my story: I am an inner city High School teacher in my late 40's. I haven't smoked Bud for 30 years and never had an edible until recently. The stress of my job prompted me to get my medical marijuana card 3 weeks ago. I have no interest to vape or smoke and just want the edibles. I want to relax and chill when I get home from my job.

The first week was fantastic! I got super body highs from the edibles I was buying. I started off slowly with hard candies and weaker edibles. I noticed after only one week that 1/2 of a candy wasn't making me high at all, so I upped it to 2. Then I started on brownies and cookies. At first 1/3 of the cookie or brownie got me feeling good, but now after just 3 weeks on the edibles I am finding it harder and harder to get high at all. My dispensary then sold me some very high THC edibles. I tried those and got a little buzz, but nothing remotely as good feeling as my first week.

So my question is: how in the world could my tolerance be so high after only 21 days!? Remember, it's not like I have been smoking it for years and would get any tolerance from that method. I am frustrated as hell thinking I can't enjoy edibles anymore, and after such a pathetically short time. I'm not taking a THC break as others suggest on old threads. I need this stuff to get through each working day.

Is this common after only three weeks? Maybe I need to just take super high doses? Any suggestions on getting edibles to work for me permanently?

  2. Welcome to the wonderful world of drug addiction! :)

  3. You're dying

Your stomach isnt digesting it properly, and just like all nutrients, eat a lot of fat with it to help it get into your bloodstream faster (like butter, or coconut oil). Sometimes the clinics dont sell edibles with a lot of fats because its for "patients", not some dude trying to get the gnarliest body high.

  4. On a helpful note, there are some EXCELLENT tutorials on this here site, how to make your own edibles. :)

  5. I have been eating the edibles on an empty stomach, maybe I should try eating with them? As for making my own, I can't even boil water and have no interest in cooking. I just wanna get high, dammit!!

Quit weed and go take an adult ed cooking class. I'm serious. Improving your diet will improve your health, which will help with the stress immensely. If you were in some other career with less responsibility, then I'd say "fuck it, it's your life, do whatever you want!" But those kids are looking up to you! Try to be a better role model. The following are textbook warning signs of drug addiction. (And yes, marijuana can be an addictive drug!)
    1. Tolerance has skyrocketed\t
    2. "Chasing" the wonderful feeling of that first high\t
    3. Refuse to consider the possibility of taking a break\t
    4. Need it to get through the working day
Frankly I am concerned that an inner city high school teacher knows so little about drug addiction. :(

  7.  I have had edibles vary in effectiveness. Once again, make your own.

Sorry, Puddlegum, I don't care about diet and am healthy ("Improving your diet will improve your health, which will help with the stress immensely.")

I'm a 3:32 marathoner. I use exercise to mitigate my stress.  And I am now using medibles to help with my stress. As for addiction, at 48 years of age, I would know if I have an addictive personality. I don't drink and never used drugs prior to the past 3 weeks and have never been addicted to anything in my life except exercise. Now I'm a candidate for "drug addiction?" Seriously!?

I just want a great high from edibles. No puerile psychoanalysis necessary or advice that I need to be a "role model" to my students., just advice on how to achieve this.

  10. tolerance through edibles will rise much higher than combustion will unfortunately.

  11. Honestly man, you would love a vape. I know you dont want one and probaly dont want to hear it, but a vape is so discreet yet so effective. Im only recommending vaping because I assume that you are just categorizing it as smoking because its generally the same act. Correct me if im wrong though. Just hear me out, go on YouTube and search "Magic Flight Launch Box". Watch a few videos and youll see how simple and easy they really are. Now that particular one is what our community calls "portable". There are also many nice "table top" vapes which you would leave at home but I just get a vibe that a smaller, more hideable vape would suit you better. But heres a little chart-
Although I personally dont prefer vaping, theres no bias here because vaping is definately a mich healthier way of cannabis consumption.

    Smoking:
    Pros-
    -Cool glass collection.
    -You cant vape a joint/blunt.
There really is no "pros" of smoking except that its straight forward, you light up, inhale, exhale, and bam, your high.

    Cons:
    -Harsher
    -Not as efficient
-ALOT harder to hide plus youll have paraphanelia on you, while with a MFLB or PAX as I recommended before is the only thing you need on your person to medicate. No lighters, papers, pipes, or ashes. Although there is what we call AVB which stands for Already Vaped Bud but it is much cleaner and less smellier than ashes.

    Vaping:
    Pros-
    -Smooth
-Can be used literally ANYWHERE because theres no odor.
    -Looks like an E-cig.
-Put in your pocket and go.
-They dont get nearly as dirty as a pipe.

    Cons:
    -Have to keep charged
    -Have to replace parts often
-Sometimes they do combust which would be okay but thats not the point when you buy one for discreetness.
-Sadly enough, they arent very reliable unless you get a MFLB. And even then, you just never know.

Anyway I hope you continue to give cannabis a chance, and explore the many different ways of consumption. Hope this can give you some insight.
